IIUC for context it sounds like they must be a UK cop.

The UK is "interesting..." and UK cops are pretty infamous. I really think the UK is parasitized by other governments as their actions typically would appear to advance ulterior party's agendas.

If anyone knows of any similar open hardware where the chips aren't trademark secret blob code let me know -- I'd love to find a winner in this SBC space.

It sounds like their MicroSD is faster, but is it as fast as the Steam Deck? I forgot the tag for the new tech -- I thought it was "II".

I do agree, (at least for me personally,) I would have gladly traded for a m.2 2230. Maybe it's not small enough? The microSD feels like a relic from times past, still I see their thought process in if it's not broke, don't fix it -- because fans are used to it.

But for me personally, as a potential new fan, I'm not drawn to it without being able to have a 2230 really.

I bought it on Steam and GOG, lol gotta appreciate that DRM-free download.

I've had times where my main internet is out for months. It can happen, and when it does having things that are not _always-online_ will be the only things that run sadly.

Congratulations to them, I'm hearing fantastic things about the 2.0 update. Absolute Legends.

It's fun, I hope the workshop maps and stuff come fast, I really wanna play Iceworld, Surf Buck Wild, and the Golden Eye maps, this is going to be interesting, the mechanics feel really good.

I've been fortunate enough to buy some games before their sale contract ended on Steam -- Tony Hawk HD, Duke Nukem, etc...

It's a fun play on Steam Deck but gets a little tiring and doesn't feel as polished as I wish.

I'm hopeful that this new version feels more polished since it's been about 23 year since the original came out and I played it all summer long.

I'm also curious about the status of DRM, and the price -- DRM will be a no-go for me, and it's not like it hasn't been on EGS for at least a year, there's no reason I can't wait longer.

Additionally, with RSPCS3 and other emulators, it may just be better buying the games off ebay, doing a img backup, and playing that way -- or simply getting a bluetooth dvd-rom or equivilant and playing that way.

I'm sure you could sshfs to a LAN computer with a DVD rom and play that way too -- it would make a interesting tech case.

Get 10 dvd-roms in a server and simply remote access your games and you can use the physical copy as is straight away.

Just to comment on human nature,

Some humans look at the universe in a mechanized way and so they feel that everything works like clock-work and is under somebody's control be it god, the leader of a country, etc... somebody is __always__ in control.

Because of this view, there are always claims that "its' all part of the plan" -- and I've seen these claims like runaway trains the last few years especially.

The Q-people make this claim often. I find this view to be* popular among religious people as well.

Power Outage? Part of the plan

Shady Elections? Part of the plan

Pandemic? Part of the plan

Heads or Tails? Part of the plan

It's human nature to use past experiences to predict future experiences. People go to the grocery store and buy the same products they have 10 or 20 times and they expect the product to be the same. They don't expect the contents to change. Nor do most think maybe this tuna may make me sick.

Not to comment on anybody in particular, but I think some people are terrified at the possibility that some things in this world occur completely by chance,

and that not everything is a result of someone else's being a controller of tragedy (by the fates some say).

It's not very comforting to have this view, and I think some people default to preferring optimism instead of cold hard reality.

It makes me think of that song `That's What Makes the World go Round`

You must set your sights upon the heights
Don't be a mediocrity
Don't just wait and trust to fate
And say, that's how it's meant to be
It's up to you how far you go
If you don't try you'll never know
And so my lad as I've explained
Nothing ventured, nothing gained

I think there are some great lessons in this.

* Like rejecting the mental comfort of telling yourself "If it's meant to be" -- like for example -- if it's meant to be, everything in life will fall into my lap with ease.

* And resisting viewing the world through the lens of magical thinking -- I realize that a few generations of technology is interpreted as a kind of "magic" -- but I think viewing the world without a kind of "mystic haze" is functionally superior.

We made it out of the dark ages once, and I'd like to see to it that we don't slip backwards in our thinking as we enjoy all these wonderful futuristic "blessings".

Human Technology has evolved, and I think Human Nature should try to as well (albeit this one happens more slowly)
