Thoughts on the Corsair STRAFE RGB Mechanical Keyboard with Cherry MX Silent Switches

Quoting: ShmerlI wish there was a mechanical keyboard with Unix layout...

I'm talking about this:

You could probably literally get that layout -- but you will may need to do something custom from here:

And if you couldn't get the keys changed on the keyboard level then you could write a new keyboard symbol in Linux -- I did this once because the Caps lock annoyed me. I turned it into a SUPER key on the low-level to reduce finger strain when doing weird key combinations.

Just bought a Ducky One TLK RGB with Chery MX Brown. I hear they're popular in South Korea for gaming.

I'm also looking for a second one.

Maybe a KBD75

I also dig the Vortex Race 3, but I'm not sure if I want to get a keyboard without the Insert key as it's handy in VIM

Here's a video of the KBD75 build process if you want to order it unassembled.

As for the Corsair STRAFE I would definitely say if you want to buy local and be able to demo or return it then it's a good pick.

When selecting other keyboards, keep in mind that some keyboards have volume buttons or rollers above the numpad and they are at a lower height than the keys below them -- so it will feel weird on keyboard versions with the volume rocker and or keys at a lower height.

That's pretty cool someone made a Corsair app, at least for Ducky it's cool that the color changer for all the keys and modes is built into the keyboard and function key changeable. So hopefully when it comes in it'll be a riot of fun.

The Linux version of Civilization VI should get cross-platform online play in the next few weeks

IF ONLY there existed a thing called an API layer. A low level system agnostic layer to send and receive the necessary basic object data. Huh, what a world that would be!

SteamOS has a minor update to test the waters before a bigger update

Quoting: TheRiddickMost steam machines where upgradable in every respect except for the Motherboard. It would be nice if they went with a ITX standard however!
It's pretty simple --

$260 -- Dan a4 SFX [External Link]

$120 - Corsair SFX PSU 600 Watt -- SF600

~$130 - Mini ITX Motherboard

~ $200 - CPU

~ $100 - RAM

~$250 - GPU

~$100 - M.2 SSD or 2.5" SSD

~$50 Noctura CPU Fan

So basically you could do a upgradable small form factor Steam Machine for $1210 not including controller, monitor/tv, keyboard, mouse.

And if you have a GPU, CPU / Ram you can knock off $550.

And if you wanna knock off another $100 you could try for a Dr Zaber Sentry instead of a Dan a4 SFX if you prefer the flat console like look like Xbox

Use an existing SSD? -$100

Farming sim 'Harvest Life' is now available on Linux
29 Jun 2018 at 6:12 pm UTC

If I was the developer of this game I would be ashamed of shipping graphics this bad. Who is their target audience 3 to 7 year olds?

Mechanically it looks like it incorporated all the misfeatures of Harvest Moon after the N64 version.

Everything is a awful grid and there is no soul, no love and no grit.

Its almost as if a developer saw the millions of dollars Stardew Valley was raking in and decided to make a farm game.

Unlike Stardew Valley this product looks like nothing more than shovelware.

The gradient low poly graphics are hideous and lower the bar by which content should be judged.

If we accept this low quality product we are lowering our expectations on developers.

There may be a demographic who enjoys this but in its current form it definately is not me or those like me who bought SDV.

PS: Trust me, it's much better that they get a reality check and criticism than loose hundreds of thousands of dollars and pile up hundreds of bad reviews on Steam.

It's a miskindness to pretend the problems away.

Also -- enjoy Stardew Valley for the last year+?

Guess who got ConcernedApe into gear to release what many people would call a GameOfTheYear

-- Me.

You're welcome.

The Paradox Launcher is now available on Linux

IIRC launchers are not allowed on SteamOS due to them not able to handle fullscreen.
