This certainly looks like something I would enjoy. I don't do early access but I'll probably pick it up when it is complete!

EDIT* I meant to post that on here when it happened but I forgot

Quoting: pete910I went against the grain and installed it in windowsJust a heads up to you and anyone else who may switch back and forth between OS's. Disable steam cloud sync for this game. I was many hours in (on windows) and tried it on Linux the last time they updated and I got errors about the save when it synced after having played in windows but said it "recovered" and the same thing happened when I went back to windows but I had some wonky things happening with my skill points (it claimed I had unlocked them all when I DEFINITELY hadn't, but kept slinging the pop-up msg about having points to "spend" ) and inventory that just screwed everything up and I had to delete the save and start over. Be careful!

City Builder Game Cities: Skylines Now Has A Release Date

Now, with that out of the way, I look forward to this being released. I really use to enjoy SimCity/SimCity2000 but have not found anything in recent years that I liked. So hopefully I'll end up liking this one.

You can preorder either the normal version or deluxe version either on Steam or directly from the publisher.BUT! You SHOULDN'T!

Quoting: BTREThis is a Unity game so performance might also be a concern.Aw crap... I wish Unity would just die in a fire already.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance, A CryEngine Game Linux Version Still Happening, Not Due Until After Windows

EDIT* Yep, HERE is the link to the GOL article about the game titled "Snow".
Liam can you reach out to the devs for a linux support update please? It looks to be going into "closed beta" at the end of march.. which from the looks of things is open for registration on their website right now @ www.snowthegame.com

Quoting: SmalokiI think one of the reasons for this is CryEngine's lack of Linux support (I know Crytek are currently porting it, but they aren't done yet...).Source? I've been under the impression that the engine has been Linux capable since mid last year. I can't recall really hearing/reading anything more about it much past when Crytek announced and showed Linux support at GDC last year. Everyone knows about Star Citizen, this game and I feel like there was a ski/snowboarding game announced last year that even showed it running in Ubuntu that was running in CryEngine.
I really hope that they'll port it even if Crytek drops the promised Linux version of their engine.

Dying Light Patch Released, Look Ma No Blur

Just like every other AAA that releases with glaring bugs Techland KNEW there were problems and instead of doing the right thing and delaying the game they released it anyways because that is how things are done... I'm on the no pre order train.. and I think I'm also on the no launch day train too at this point.

Quoting: drmothThe other thing which people seem to forget these days is that games are becoming much, much more complicated than they ever have before...and therefore the potential for more bugs is greater. The answer to the complexity is not always throwing more developers at the problems either, sometimes that can make it worse! I think it's unfair to compare a slightly buggy Dying Light which is pushing the limits of next gen graphics and animation, with, for example, a 2D sprite based game that is completely bug free on launch.Nope, sorry, I have to disagree, It is totally fair to compare the two. One game was $80 (w/ season pass) and the other was $5. The cheaper game has better launch day value. The considering it is playable. Mega game breaking problems should not be there on release day. These devs have huge budgets, and maybe they need to learn to work within them better. They could have done a limited beta months ago and probably not had these issues now. They could have actually done some Real QA to fix these things. Taking some $$ and building a room with a small army of differently configured PC's ALL dual booting winblows and some flavor of linux and then testing on each would be a good start. Though I have a feeling it had to have ran horribly on the development machine as well.

Dying Light Patch Released, Look Ma No Blur

EDIT* not to mention is wasn't until 04-05 when game consoles also started coming with the ability to "easily" patch games post launch.

Quoting: liamdaweConsidering how bad the release was, and honestly, how can all of those issues have been missed by QA? I will remain sceptical. They weren't "missed"... they were known and instead of delaying the release they decided to let it go because they CAN patch later. It is a bad byproduct of "automatic" digital distribution. The days of a game HAVING to be perfect on launch are gone. "Back in the day" they couldn't get patches out to people except by mail, or other slow (14.4k...) means when the internet began to become "common" so it wasn't practical.

Dying Light Patch Released, Our Thoughts On It, Still Terrible

EDIT* ok, wow, I just fired it up in Linux again to see if there were any noticeable performance improvements for me. There wasn't, although the addition of vsync is nice. I now see how bad the motion blur is. It is REAL bad. When you run forward everything goes blurry and then even when you stop running it stays that way for about a second making it even that much more jarring :dizzy:

Quoting: SamsaiMotion blur has never given me any physical issues, I simply don't like it because it doesn't feel natural and it usually eats up some FPS for no good reason.. I've been playing it in windows (*ducks*) and can turn off the MB but I still perceive the chromatic whatever as blur when running around and it bothers me. That's why I was asking.Quoting: EKRboiAs far as I'm concerned, the worst thing is the blur. That chromatic whateveritis doesn't cause nausea or headaches. Normally I'm fine with motion blur and low FOV but this game causes problems even for me.Quoting: liamdaweAre you sure that it is motion blur bothering you and not the horrible chromactic *blahblahblah* they have added that can't be turned off? It certainly bothers me.Quoting: InterzeroidAlso Windows has turning blur off and on.Yes, we have that too, but the option doesn't work. As noted.

You can also remove the film grain. Doubt it will really make much of a fps difference, but if you hate it like me then it is nice to get rid of it. I'm on mobile right now or I would type up a how to.. but duckduckgo is your friend.

Can we please stop attacking each other? If you want to argue about AMD/Nvidia WCCFtech's comment section would LOVE to have you. If you want to argue distros take it to the site that starts with a "P" and whom shall not be named here ;)
One of the reasons I fell in love with this community last year was because everyone was friendly, helpful and seemed to just love Linux. Since the high profile games have been rolling in the last 4-5 months, there seems to have been an influx of newer users or users who didn't post much and the bickering in the high comment articles seems to be getting worse and worse.
By all means, attack the devs when their games are broken, complain about bad performance, but please stop fighting each other.
