Gauntlet Action RPG From Warner Bros & Arrowhead To Launch On Linux
17 Mar 2014 at 5:29 pm UTC

Quoting: liamdaweI disagree, to reboot something you are remaking it however much you change/keep the same. They are one and the same in my eyes.
I wasn't referring to Gauntlet. I was saying (or at least I intended to), that a reboot is the opposite of a remake.

Quoting: liamdaweAnyway, who cares it's such a minor point.
Sometime I just can't fight the know-it-all in me :)

Gauntlet Action RPG From Warner Bros & Arrowhead To Launch On Linux

Quoting: liamdaweReboot/Remake = Same thing :)
Actually it's the opposite.

i.e.

Resident Evil (for Gamecube) or MGS: Twin Snakes are remakes.
Castlevania LoS or Tomb Raider are reboots.
And Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD are simply remastered.

The Reason Some Games Are Delayed For Linux In Humble Indie Bundles
21 Feb 2014 at 11:19 pm UTC

Quoting: SilviuI think you need some relaxing tea :P
Agreed :) As long these ports aren't delayed for several years, I'm fine with it.

I think good games don't age. And there are other games to play in the meantime.

A Steam Machine From iBuyPower Has Been Shown Off
30 Nov 2013 at 8:38 pm UTC

I haven't used AMD graphics for some time now so I can't personally vouch for how good/bad they are.
I have a desktop with a Radeon 5870 and a notebook with a 7970M. Both run just fine.
One thing makes me laugh:

Still, iBuyPower says that existing Steam for Linux games should run quite well, at full 1080p resolution and 60 frames per second.
That should be true for, I guess, 95% (or more?) of the games at mid - high settings. The rest still should run in at least 30 fps.

GOG.com Don't Plan On Introducing Linux Support In The Foreseeable Future UPDATED
7 Sep 2013 at 7:25 pm UTC

Quoting: PopeJamalWow. This thread is childish and embarrassing. This is why people are wary of the Linux community. :(
Yep, and it's neither the only thread, nor the only Linux-related webside. By far not  :/

Steam's August Hardware Survey, Linux Dips Below 1%
2 Sep 2013 at 12:14 pm UTC

Quoting: toorStill so low numbers after dota 2, natural selection 2, counter strike, half life, team fortress, and even more.
Compared to how many games you get on Windows, that's still not worth mentioning. And if you have let's say 20 games in your list and only one of them runs on Linux, you probably wouldn't switch :)

Quoting: toorwhy would they switch to another OS
First, the games you want to play need to be available for that OS (all of them). If that's the case, you can attract a lot of gamers with better performance - even if that's not too much. Although, that's not yet the case for all games, it seems to be possible for Linux to score on that point.

Quoting: toorNahh those numbers just won't go up unless there is something really huge happening
That might be the SteamBox (hopefully).

Will gog.com Ever Support Linux On Its Store?

That sounds vaguely promising doesn't it? Well I choose to look at it that way anyway.
I'm usually optimistic regarding such comments, too, but this doesn't mean anything. Sure, he increased interest in Linux by simply asking for it, but it's really not more we can read out of it.
I believe the reason he couldn't say any more about the subject is because of common business practice: Don't bitch about those you do business with.
That's likely, but what's your point then?

Deep SIlver's AAA games could come to linux
8 Aug 2013 at 3:20 pm UTC

I'd like to say, that Deep Silver would then become my favorite VG company/publisher/whatever, but it already is :D

I still wonder ... usually, our (German) companies are ... well ... slow considering new developments. Although it's just a very small hint, I'm really surprised - far more than I expected.
