Quoting: dpanterC'mon Clem, throw Mintbuntu in a ditch and go full LMDE already. It's long overdue.
At this point, with the direction that Canonical is going with Ubuntu, it might be a lot less work for the dev team if they focused on Debian instead.

Quoting: melkemindI'm always impressed with how fast they work. They put out an initial workaround with Proton Hotfix on the same day it stopped working, and now they already have it in Experimental.
Makes you wonder how easy it would be for the devs to test the update before pushing it. 🤔
Sadly, they didn't try for Linux at all, even for Steam Deck verification. Meanwhile, they released a native MacOS version. The studio execs clearly have a bias since it can't be about Macs having a bigger player base in 2026.
Probably more of a "this is the way it has always been" mindset. They're not looking at the change in statistics. They know Windows and MacOS ... and consoles. It's what they're comfortable with. Linux is a big confusing world of distros and versions, by comparison. Why change their time-tested processes?

Quoting: GrishnakhThe great thing about standards is that there are so many to choose from. /s
The other great thing about standards bodies such as this is that they create more jobs for bureaucrats. /s

Quoting: VexThey sell you the TV to get you in the door. The TV doesn't actually make them anything. It's a loss.
They used this with consumer-class printers back in the day (and still do, really). The printer itself is a loss leader. They give you a proprietary starter cartridge with your purchase. They get you when you need to replace that cartridge. Ever noticed how they fight tooth-and-nail to prevent you from using third-party options -- smear campaigns regarding product quality, special microchips so that only first-party cartridges will work, etc. The sale of ink and toner is the lifeblood of their business model.

Quoting: elmapulprobably that is why they relased it, to become "the heroes of preservation", when the truth is, we already had this.
That was my thought as well. Open sourcing 45-year-old tech is hardly going to impact Microsoft's current-day business. Costs them nothing.

Denuvo DRM reportedly fully cracked open, 2K apparently fights back with online checks

Frankly, as an offline gamer, I dislike online checks as much as, if not more than, Denuvo Anti-Tamper. I want nothing to do with games that employ either approach for DRM. Show me trust and you will get my money. Provide demos too. 😊

Quoting: sarmadSingle player games should have no anti-cheat protection.
As I understand it, Denuvo is not anti-cheat. Just looking at its full name, it is anti-tamper DRM -- it performs a completely different function.

Quoting: mrdeathjrThis d7vk version in my case work ok with mesa 26.2-dev
That's a surprise. The top picture is the original Dungeon Siege (one of my faves). I thought it used DX9.

How about that -- I just checked PCGamingWiki and the API is indeed DX7. It must have been GOG's custom DirectDraw wrapper that made me think it was DX9.
Yeah many think same about dx9 on dungeon siege but in reality this game use dx7

however d7vk results are very impressive

😀
Did you have to do anything to disable GOG's wrapper?
