@wintermute
I particularly liked this comment for someone that used to work under him and actually was a gamer:
Too bad you didn't quote the comment here as well. Unfortunately, your link is locked behind a login screen.

Which is why Debian has Iceweasle instead of Firefox
Except this hasn't been a thing for a while. According to Wikipedia, Debian and Mozilla are supposed to have settled their issues some time back in 2017.

There was a project called GNU Iceweasel -- it's called GNU Icecat now -- but it's apparently not related to the Debian project. Still a fork of Firefox, just like the Debian project, however.

they removed the soul from the game, which was guiding a civilization from the bronze age all the way to the space race.
Having an interest in the history of civilizations (yes, plural), the "pick a new civilization for every new age" feature you've described is far more realistic. I know, this does not fit into the western narrative of a neat progression from point A to point B, constantly improving with each step. In actual history, however, mankind went through several, often distinct and unrelated, civilizations as the assorted technological eras developed. In fact, often a new civilization for each era. Mankind's history has not been one single civilization, after all.

it's not yet a perfect experience on Steam Deck due to some text being too small
You know, this got me thinking about how, not that long ago, when consoles and cross-platform development were becoming more of a thing, thoughts were different on this topic. I remember when TES 4: Oblivion came out and all the PC gamers were complaining that, well suitable for a console on a tv screen, the UI and accompanying text was too large for the PC. All these mods were showing up trying to shrink the UI. I guess it's kind of ironic that, with the introduction of handheld PCs, this no longer seems to be a complaint.

Rugby knowledge is OPTIONAL. It’s OK, many rugby players don’t know anything about rugby either.
ROFL 🤣

Glad I wasn't drinking or eating when I read this ...

we're in horror territory
LoL 🤣

And, yet, "spawning" would be the correct term to apply to a group of frogs breeding in a pond.

How to install GE-Proton on Steam Deck, SteamOS, Linux
9 Feb 2025 at 6:40 pm UTC Likes: 1

Update: I can confirm after testing that @tuubi is correct. UMU-Launcher is installed as a runtime in Lutris 0.5.17 and up. There is no need to install UMU-Launcher separately. If you select "ge-proton" in the Wine list (or any version of GE-Proton really -- I tested on GE-Proton 9-23), Lutris will automatically utilize UMU to configure the prefix. I installed the game by running the installer inside the manually-created prefix.

Lutris will regularly update "ge-proton" to the latest version. If you want your installation to remain on a specific version of GE-Proton, you will need to download and install it with ProtonUp-QT, then choose that specific version in the Wine list.

One warning, though -- do not use winecfg inside a proton prefix. It is not compatible and will corrupt the prefix.

Would use demonstrations and right to demonstrate in front of the associated departments there in the UK.
It seems that protests and demonstrations rarely work these days. Politicians and bureaucrats tend to just ignore them.

I remember a leader of a political party here in Canada actually calling referendums undemocratic. Boggles the mind ...

As @psycho_driver comments, the best way to send a message is to vote with your money.

Reply button has disappeared from here for some reason and i can't remember how to point a quote out concerning a specific user
This is no longer automated for us due to changes caused by UK government regulation. It is the same for quotes as it is for replies. We have to do it manually, such as I've done above.

Regrettably, the only way to flag for notification is through the Like button now.

Mint is not Ubuntu, thanks awfully.
Absolutely! Anyone who's actually used Mint for any length of time and/or been involved with its community would know this.
