Aspyr Media Are Close To Breaking Even On Linux Ports
17 Jan 2015 at 10:46 am UTC

My hope is that we start getting releases sooner especially things like TL2 that I have played to death in Wine may not get played much when ported to Linux. The longer we get games and the sooner they come out the better the chance it gets bought on Linux and played un-bottled. I have hopes for the future.

C4 Engine Drops Linux Support, Developer Says Linux Is Inferior

To all the white knights:

That's your opinion. I say he does deserve what he gets. You are not a or the God, you do not make rules for the Linux community or rules on internet etiquette please understand, that's your viewpoint and opinion. He was a dick and got treated like crap for being one, that's Newtons third law (in karma form). If it's a matter of shining a negative light on the Linux community, that's a joke. As I said, you can go on any game or hardware forum, any forum really and read all the rage and ranting and people downright being mean to each other. Expecting all Linux users to just sing Kumbaya and hold hands while Fstars like this guy trash talk, sorry but you're ridiculous. So, try to sound high and mighty, talk down to those reacting to unjustified slander like children* and generally be a white knight( L A M E).

*intended to be read both ways because it's true.

Games like this, for those of us were there were milestones. I'm not much of one for those "nostalgia" games with awful graphics trying to pretend to be retro but Abe's Odyssey was always an amazing game.. Unity aside this is instabuy.

Quoting: LarianWow. A lot of you guys aren't getting it.

Stop being dicks in public. The crap you're slinging is almost verbatim what the Linux world had to suffer for years.
Okay two of your posts are direct shots @ Linux users for retaliating against someone who fire the first shot. You ever go onto a hardware (graphics) site and read all the NVIDIOTS vs AMshitD nonsence? Ever go into a game forum and listen to its users blat and wail (Windows users usually)? Apparently not, Linux "fan bois" aren't doing anything any other "fan bois" don't do.

The best part about bashing this guy is that ANYONE who has installed Ubuntu can officially talk down to this guy as that is his level of incompetence (apparently).

Linux users have been crapped on so much, now that we can be serious, we are SERIOUS. I say screw it rage hard on this dick he deserves to be harassed for being a dick first (IMO of course).

I was having an impossible time setting up the BG2/IWD2 games in wine due to their installer. This is great news I have been dying to play them again... especially since I own multiple copies of IWD2 I have been looking forward to playing them again. Downloading now will let you know how it installs tomorrow getting too late tonight.

Quoting: tmtvlLove that guy's accent, hope he makes top dog someday.

Anyway, downloading the driver is a 4, it's not in the Arch repos or it would be a 5, but it can only get in the Arch repos if it gets brought up to speed.
Ease of installing gets a 3, downgrading Xorg isn't always the easiest thing to do.
Stability gets a 4, I haven't had it crash yet, but I've heard of people who had, so that's a bit of a problem.
Features get a 3, I can do a lot with the control application, but no support for the latest Xorg is bad.
Pretty close to what I rated.

Quoting: CaldazarDammit, I forgot to tell them to give Vi0L0 a monthly paycheck (Arch users running catalyst know and are grateful)
^ this exactly. It's people like him that make Arch (AUR) so damned great though. Terrible pain in the ass keeping all the versions straight and watermark removal.

You should have waited! Now Larian will think you are on Windows. You have let down openSUSE and Linux a whole!

I backed them for a Linux version in kickstarter.... They were VERY mum on the Linux port only to admit they weren't porting it and it would "hopefully" be out sometime this year... I will never back another Larian campaign. They handled the Linux community terribly with no word for weeks and weeks. I doubt the editor will be ported since it's not an in house port. So dissapointed because these guys were SUPER on top of the community during the campaign. Kept us informed with E-mails about every little delay before the open beta.
