Minimon Monster Catcher Released In Steam Early Access (UPDATED)
25 Mar 2015 at 10:35 pm UTC Likes: 1

Bought this. 3D Pokemon like MMORPG with linux and full controller support are all things I've been looking for. I honestly think the game could only survive as a free-to-play but I'm willing to support the development and I wouldn't be upset if they did decide to make it free to play down the road with a cosmetic in-game shop to support development and increase the player base.

Linux Now Has Over 1000 Titles On Steam

Quoting: pd12Never fear, Star Citizen is coming here [External Link]! =)
I've known about that too but it strikes me more as a space sim and FPS than MMORPG, it doesn't quite scratch the same kind of itch most MMORPG players seek. Still it's very good that it's coming to Linux and I'll probably grab it when it goes on sale on the steam store at some point.

Edit: And to go along with everyone else posting library information.

I've got 17 titles and all 17 are linux only. I'm relatively new to steam and only just started buying up titles to prepare for my steam box build in November :D

Bought like $80 in titles during the last sale including the Shadows of Mordor game.

Linux Now Has Over 1000 Titles On Steam

Quoting: liamdaweWe all know quality over quantity, but with 1000+ games now on Steam for Linux, there has to be something for everyone!
Everyone but the AAA MMORPG crowd, it's the last chink in the compelling linux game selection armor. Something like Neverwinter, TERA, RIFT, GW2, WoW etc...

Shrouds of the Avatar may become something great but that's still yet to be seen and Warhammer 40k Online: Eternal Crusade is confirmed coming but that's more of an MMOFPS and lacks in the RPG department. It's understandable there isn't yet something like this for Linux as MMORPG's are the largest money sink and thus the largest risk. I'm hoping after SteamOS takes off that Neverwinter will come to it as it's gameplay is great for controllers and it's already entering the console market with Xbox which would mean they're not opposed to making the port if it looks promising.

I've been planning on building a Steam Machine for my living room and now I have a date in mind to finalize it, November. I hope this controller is worth the wait.

Editorial: Linux Gaming Will Be Fine Even Without Steam Machines Succeeding
21 Feb 2015 at 3:06 am UTC Likes: 5

I think glNext could prove much more beneficial in helping make the linux game platform more competitive with Windows than Steam Machines.

And the problems with OpenGL right now aren't performance related. It's that generally Direct3D has been a much easier and more convenient API for developers than OpenGL. If glNext isn't considerably more convenient for video game developers then we will most likely see the same trend in the future with DirectX 12 representing 80% of all AAA game titles and glNext only 20%. If that turns out be the case with these new completely overhauled API's then Microsoft will maintain its vast exclusive platform status for probably the next 10 years and Linux will most likely not ever really take off as a go-to AAA gaming platform. A lot rides on glNext for gamers that would like to get rid of their Windows partitions.

Quoting: OZSeafordLegends of Aetherus - small indie kickstarter, with bad reviews, describing game as bland. Might still be good to fire it up to experience the steampunk setting.
I've bought and played it. It was pretty fun, what I played of it. The bad reviews are because the game was completely abandoned by its developers a few months after its launch and there are still several bugs remaining that are game breaking for some people. It doesn't look like the devs plan on coming back as it's been almost two years of inactivity and their forums are completely dead and all the most recent posts are just spam advertisements by bots. The combat is the best part of the game and I'd kill for more games to have combat like its. I use to just keep doing the coliseum challenge for hours.

The OpenGL Successor Is Due To Be Unveiled At GDC
3 Feb 2015 at 9:04 pm UTC

Well, even if these game companies don't start making linux ports as long as they have glNext in their new games there's hope for linux. It shouldn't be that hard for wine developers to pass the glNext commands to the drivers like they currently do with other OpenGL implementations which will give close to native level performance with games. But if these game companies decide to exclusively support DX12 then linux users will be completely screwed. Of course, if the game companies decide to support glNext AND have proprietary DRM solutions in place that's still a pretty bad scenario for linux users because DRM doesn't play so nice with Wine.

Steam Now Has Over 700 Linux Games, What A Milestone!
4 Oct 2014 at 4:43 am UTC

Going to be honest and say most indie games are garbage and that most of those 700 games qualify as indie games. Of course I may only be saying this because an indie developer I invested in let their game become abandonware before it reached a completed state. Remember Legends of Aetherus? Bought it for the beta access, played it a while earnestly and reported several bugs. Decided to take a break and when I come to see how it's progressed I find that the developers haven't issued a single patch in nearly a year and there's radio silence on their forums and Steam pages. It's a shame because it was a decent game even in that incomplete state but could have been much much better.

Anyway, my currently played Linux games: Strife, Team Fortress 2

Games I wish were/will be on Linux but sadly aren't/never will be: Guild Wars 2, ArcheAge, Rift, Everquest Next, Planetside 2, Firefall, Defiance, Ghost Recon Phantoms.

Yeah, some of those I can get to barely run in Wine... but it's a much worse experience than using a Windows installation on the same equipment. My system only counts as mid-range and so any of the above games listed I have to play on absolutely minimum settings in Wine.

We're making progress but please don't kid yourselves into thinking we've even yet to make our way to a state of linux gaming where "gamers" would be happy with the selection.

Very much looking forward to Borderlands: The Pre-sequel though.
