Insurgency FPS Now Officially Available On Linux
28 Oct 2015 at 1:30 am UTC

Dang. And I thought I was being really damn clever buying Insurgency last night on G*&$2%^A for $8 but then there's a Humble Bundle the next day. Maybe I'll buy the bundle and gift it to my brother.

And the game works well but I'm super rusty with these kinds of games. In solo mode I was getting my butt handed to me.

Tactical FPS 'Insurgency' Now Available on Linux In Beta Form, Woohoo
24 Oct 2015 at 2:54 am UTC

I just read on a forum that this game is a lot like Socom II.... I am foaming at the mouth now. Socom II was my crack as a teenager. I spent so much time glued to a recliner playing Socom II on an old 32" tv and loved every damn minute. If they can make this game work well enough on a Steam Controller to the point that it's not a handicap I think that there will be a permanent indent in my couch from where I sit.

Divinity: Original Sin - Enhanced Edition Delayed For Linux, Again
22 Oct 2015 at 4:25 am UTC

Aww man don't bum me out with all this "kickstarters will never be fair to linux users" stuff. I kickstarted Yooka-Laylee not long ago and unlike all you RPG people that have alternatives there really is no alternative for a 3D platformer on linux.

Nova Blitz Trading Card Game Might Be My New Addiction On Linux
23 Aug 2015 at 2:49 am UTC

I won't go back! You can't make me! ... Pokemon and then Yu-Gi-Oh! cards were my collecting addiction as a kid and I went to several tournaments and loved it all... but I'll be damned if I let myself dump all my money into Trading Cards again.

Valve Finally Have A Proper Refund Policy For Steam
3 Jun 2015 at 3:00 am UTC

Quoting: HoriThe game must be purchased directly from Steam Store or can any activated key be refunded? What about gifts?

Normally, only direct purchases should be refunded.

Also can we get a refund if we buy a game that does not support Linux? There were cases when devs promised a Linux version and then they either canceled or postponed it (again and again).
This policy does not apply to gifted games that have been redeemed or games activated with steam keys. Direct purchases only.

And as long as you have less than 2 hours played and are within 14 days of purchase date you can return it but all else is lost. So if you bought a game and then found out the developers were cheaping out on Linux support AFTER the 14 days you're SOL.

Valve's Source Engine 2 Looks To Be Coming To Dota 2 As A DLC

Quoting: mr-eggVulcan? Im excited for source 2 and the performance gains + graphics improvements to new and older source games but Im really hoping Vulcan comes along with source 2 not long afterwards. Another 40% - 50% performance with lower latencies and more effects at once, removing any and all openGL deficits with x.server.

Any idea when the first beta Vulcan driver will be available ? I assume Valve will be the first dev to actually support games with it. Already nvidias new card 980ti / driver is supporting so called 'extra effects' in dx12.1 , Vulcan is critical to getting more PC gamers interested in SteamOS & Linux.
Think I read somewhere that the Vulkan spec is likely to be released at some conference in late August and I'm fairly certain the Intel Vulkan driver is going to be released the same time as the finished spec.

Logitech F310 Gamepad Review On Linux
18 May 2015 at 9:52 pm UTC

I have an old PC gamepad in storage that seemed to work decently for Linux when I used it a while ago. But I haven't used it for a long time as I'm happy with mouse + keyboard for my PC. Come November though I am going to buy one of those Steam controllers for my steam box because living rooms really do need gamepads in my mind.

Banjo-Kazooie Creators Launch Kickstarter Campaign For 3D Platformer Yooka-Laylee
2 May 2015 at 5:40 am UTC

I've been waiting for a game just like this since I heard about the Steam Machines. There'd be no point in putting a steam box in my living room to relive the glory days of console gaming in the 90's if I didn't have a 3D platformer in my game catalog. I've already backed it and secured my $15 copy.

Valve Officially Drop Paid Mods
28 Apr 2015 at 11:22 pm UTC

I've heard this is common behavior from Valve. I'm a fairly recent Steam user so I can't vouch for the validity of this but many people have stated that Steam was a complete mess at first and thanks to lots of changes fueled by community feedback they finally made it an enjoyable experience by hacking off the dud features and implementing the most requested ones. From the start it sounds like they've not been afraid to reverse course, admit mistakes, and rectify them.

Minimon Monster Catcher Released In Steam Early Access (UPDATED)

Quoting: KeizgonI advise staying away from this game. Reading the developer's other responses to posts, it's bringing back some dark memories of some (rare) incompetent and unethical indie communities. I know it's bad to judge something based off a person's attitude, but I would like proof to know I am wrong, and I'm not willing to throw money away to find out for this.
The guy claiming to be the real developer has a much better attitude I'd say and he seems really enthusiastic about the game with a positive vision for it. Here is a link to his posts: http://steamcommunity.com/id/drakymon/posthistory/ [External Link]

Admittedly it comes off sort of trollspeaky at times but I'm fairly certain English is not his first language.
