If 6800XT is anything like the 5700XT launch:

  • October 28th announcement of release November 30th, reference only.
  • February 1st AIB cards released.
  • March 1st, I can build the kernel and Mesa from git branches to have a somewhat stable experience.
  • October 2021 first Ubuntu release that works reliably, April release didn't have everything.

I have bought a few Nvidia cards and they worked with proprietary drivers the week of release with zero issues. I have a 5700XT, the question for me is:

Is there a game that will be released before October 2021 that I will want 2x performance of 5700XT? If there is, I will buy a Nvidia RTX 3080, if not I'll buy a 6800XT most likely.

Games that may make me want to upgrade:
  • Cyberpunk 2077
  • Vampire the Masquerades: Bloodlines 2 (not looking good)
  • Starfield
  • New Elder scrolls game
  • Avowed

Lisa Su keeps saying 7nm is tight, sounds like reasonable availability may be well into 2021.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI is getting 6 new DLC and 6 free updates with the 'New Frontier Pass'

Quoting: DMGDid they finally fixed AI or it still as bad as it was in beginning and question "what else can we do" was more about "how else we can milk money from those players, without fixing the game"?
The AI will always be bad because of how complex the game is. When the game first came out, the AI was a joke, it would almost never build or use planes. Once you had planes, you would automatically win. Now the AI can use planes and it is better.

IMO with the expansions, there is too much going on to be enjoyable. When I play, I turn off a bunch of things, depending on what I feel like doing. I always turn off spies and global warming.

Anyone know of a Civ 5/6 type game that is much simpler and has a decent AI?

Is the AI still garbage? Does the AI at-least use planes and boats somewhat reasonably. Last time I played, the AI didn't even build planes or it built one and never used it.

This game makes HuniePop (even with the uncensored patch) look like an E for Everyone game in comparison.

Planet Nomads drops plans to have co-op and multiplayer

Yes, especially because what we need is a better-looking 7 Days To Die.
7 Days to Die looks fine. They improved the visuals a lot over the last two alphas and it looked good enough to me before the updates. 7DtD needs better AI, more interesting zombies with different abilities and/or raiders, and late game goals.

I like to play survival games alone. Because they are dropping multiplayer and coop to focus on single player, I am going to put this game on my wish list and pick it up when it goes on sale.

DLC, but part of Digital Deluxe if you purchased that version.

Aspyr Media have teased that the 'Australian Summer' Civilization VI update will be on Linux soon

Quoting: AryvandaarI'm still considering if Civ 6 is worth it. What I heard about the game didn't make me interested. AI problems, graphics, too much simplicity etc.
If you haven't bought it yet, I wouldn't recommend it unless you are playing exclusively multiplayer. The AI is really bad. This update supposedly improves the AI to AI+ mod levels. I have AI+ mod installed and the AI is still really bad.

Early Exclusive: Civilization VI to release February 9th for Linux with a discount, NVIDIA only for now

I hear the AI sucks. I guess I will find out. It always bothered me that the higher difficulty levels in Civ V gave bonuses because it just meant that I couldn't win earlier.
