Quoting: StoneColdSpiderMan so many free games I will instantly forget about cause they are on GOG and not Steam.......

And vice versa. I don't buy Steam games.

But makes me wonder why you read those news at all when you already know you don't go there. I don't read the articles about games only available on Steam......

Quoting: StoneColdSpiderw00t another free game ill never play...... But I will still take it.....

You should give it a try. Both Alwa games are great platformers.

Which means, I can't get the free game, as I already own it

Quoting: LinasWait, Turok remaster? Is that the version that is currently on Steam?
Yup, for both Turok 1 and 2, they have various upgrades.
Does Turok 2 have a native Linux version? On GOG I only see one for Turok...

Quoting: Craggles086The last decent Asteroid’s game I saw was the one released by Ambrosia Software, that was later open sourced.

Yuck. I know (think?) I played this. A lot. But cannot remember the name anymore

Edit: Found/Remembered it again: Maelstrom

Quoting: ElectricPrismHalf of the links in the article seem broken for me.

Indeed. Likely they changed the links? E.g., for the RPG list (going via the main site) I end up at https://www.gog.com/en/promo/2023_spring_sale_rpg

Quoting: benstor214Always having to opt-out of promotional messages after a giveaway on gog, makes me prefer steam (where 100% off really is 100% off). Just me?

Maybe not just you. But not everyone.

I, for one, prefer 100% DRM free games. Priorities differ...

Hmm, can't get it to run? Got the Linux version, unzipped (and had to chmod +x the executables..) but it just spits out
no boot config - using default values
and then returns to the command prompt.
Digging out the Player.log, it only contains
"There is no data folder"

I really wonder how long they will be able to survive. We had several of those independent game stores supporting Linux and DRM free. Most of them had to give up after Valve entered the stage.

Indeed, race games is a quite void area. Still somewhat is, if you confine yourself to DRM-free. I had mostly bridged that gap with TORCS, and even bought a wheel just for that. And yes, H-Craft. That really was sensational to me, and I immediately bought it. Both are quite subtle, so you (well, I...) need to play a while to be able to progress. So nowadays I mostly stay with SuperTuxKart

Quoting: slaapliedjeI used to play it on my Atari 800xl, where I believe it was developed originally.
