What are you playing this weekend?
18 June 2016 at 4:13 pm UTC

I had just bought Unmechanical in the GOG summer sale and started playing it after I had installed it this morning. Couldn't stop before I had finished it (but it is waaaayyyy too short!)
So I'll need something else for the rest of the WE. Maybe This War of mine.

The impressive 2D cyberpunk action-RPG Dex is now DRM free on GOG
18 June 2016 at 3:00 pm UTC

Quoting: wolfyrionGOG should have given steam keys as well on every game purchase, like Humble.
Both DRM Free and Steam Key.

Steam should give you DRM-free downloads for the games they sell and allow you playing them outside the steam client, and keep them when terminatint the acount.

Sounds weird? Not less than your request.

As for Dex: I saw the announcement & Trailer on GOG, and found it quite interesting. Clearly on the watch list, and due to the references to BaSS here quite high up :D

GOG Connect announced, add certain Steam games to GOG for a limited time

Quoting: TheBardGOG surely have a lot of potential but as of today, linux and multi-player users on GOG are second-zone citizens.

Blame developers for missing Linux versions on GOG, especially ones like AOW III. They literally said they don't want to bother updating another version, so it's them who treat GOG users as second class citizens.

Well, if they don't want my money, it's their loss. While I might enjoy playing their game, I do not lose anything not doing it.

The Way, a puzzle platformer inspired by classic titles like Another World and Flashback now on Linux
26 May 2016 at 11:11 am UTC

Hmm, I do like the (flashback-like) Bermuda Syndrome, so 'The Way' sounds interesting. However, (some of) the reviews on GOG are not too promising. So given the price they call I rather say 'maybe later'...

Feral Interactive officially confirm F1 2015 is coming to Linux
8 May 2016 at 11:00 pm UTC

Maybe only half on-topic, but is any of the Feral ports 'visible' outside the Steam universe? Or are they sort-of married to Steam/Valve?

(I know I have a game that has the Feral Logo in the startup. Don't remember what it was - most likely from one of the Humble Indie Bundles.)

Torchlight now available DRM free for Linux on the Humble Store
22 April 2016 at 7:17 pm UTC

Had it all the time, from the HIB 6 (Sep '12). Yes, they had fixed the face issue in some update alreadi in 2013.

Great you can finally buy it! (Though I obviously won't ^_^ ) A friend of mine was looking for it lately and was quite disappointed....

Gnomoria, a sandbox village sim is now available DRM free on GOG
20 April 2016 at 7:02 pm UTC

Maybe also worth mentioning that it's at 50% special sale at the moment (+1€ off for the next store purchase).

Not really mt type of game though...

GOL SteamOS & Linux Survey results for February
20 March 2016 at 3:00 pm UTC

Quoting: AnxiousInfusion
Quoting: lucifertdarkWow a 20% drop between December & February of people who bought games on Steam, that's not a good sign for Valve.

It looks like Humble picked up most of the slack. Linux gamers are just more savvy about DRM-free.

Those that prefer DRM-free rather go to GOG nowadays, Humble isn't first-class on that anymore. Sad, but true...

GOL Asks: What have you been playing recently?
16 March 2016 at 5:17 pm UTC

Now that I have my new gaming machine (6700K, GTX980, 4k Monitor) :D
Mostly Victor Vran, and looks at some other games that wouldn' t run on the old one (Witcher2, Shadow Warrior). Also tried Trine3, but that seems not to like 4k. Have to look into that later...

How big is Linux gaming? Some estimates
14 March 2016 at 12:19 pm UTC

Quoting: CheesenessI'd not spotted that post from Humble. At the time I wrote my last article looking at cross-platform support in Humble Bundles, there had been 59 Linux debuts in Humble's promotions between May 2010 and December 2012. Of those, the majority had been ported internally by the studios that created them (that includes stuff created using engines/tech that already had Linux support).

Well even if they did not port (many) titles themselves, it was Humble that made the others do the port with the definite requirement that only titles available DRM-free on all platforms can go in a bundle. It is mostly for this IMHO substantial contribution to Linux-gaming that I still do go there now and then, at least for the HIBs. The rest is meanwhile done better by GOG.....
