Quoting: Segata SanshiroI'm still of the opinion that some of these projects should start selling their games on Steam so they can pay developers and improve the quality and speed of development of the games. Of course, its still FOSS and can be downloaded for free, shared, etc but doesn't mean some people won't pay money.

I think SuperTuxKart were going to do something like this once they implement their new engine.
Yeah, I think that would be interesting too and it would be a good way of getting some more attention in addition to revenue. I'm sure there are many who would pay either to support the project or to be able to get Steam achievements, trading cards, cloud sync etc.

I don't think there's any precedence for FOSS on Steam, but there's at least an OSS game launching on Steam in the near future called Frogatto & Friends.

That is disappointing. I see there's a ton of reported issues Linux issues there. I must have been pretty lucky not to encounter any on my playthrough.

On another note I've put about 3 hours into this game now and I'm really enjoying it a lot. There's a huge emphasis on exploration and you're very free in how you choose to get around once you've unlocked the powers to create triangles and defy gravity. A word of advice though: hit that quicksave button often when you're doing tricky stuff. Otherwise it can be pretty disheartening to have gained a high altitude in search of one of the more elusive idols, only to have it ruined by a slight misstep.

I'm mostly a singleplayer person too and I'm really looking forward to a campaign, so it's nice to see that they're starting to get some of the prerequisites in place. I haven't really been invested in a "historical" RTS since AoE II/AoM but I'm looking forward to seeing what comes of this.

That kind of reminds me a little bit of Warcraft 3. Could just be the aesthetics on the base "buildings" though. Neat concept and nice article.

For anything a little demanding I use my GeForce GT 630M with 2GB VRAM and Nvidia 331.38 driver. I haven't had to tweak anything either, other than to choose between integrated and dedicated graphics. That's true, but I'd be a bit bummed if I had severe issues with something I really wanted to play though.

Did you try playing the beta demo to see if you had any issues with that?

I've heard others mention such issues with Unity but I can't say I've experienced it myself. I haven't played KSP, Shadowrun Returns or Wastelands 2 but I've played Rochard, Gone Home and The Fall without noticing that. I've gotten some pretty bad frame rate drops at certain points in The Last Tinker and Monochroma but since I do most of my gaming on a 2 year old mid-range laptop I figured that was to be expected.

Do you know if it's an issue that's specific to certain kinds of GPUs and Linux or is it a more widespread issue? Could be that it's just not very noticeable on my rig. Either way I hope it's something that gets fixed in the near future since there's so many neat games coming out these days that are built in Unity.

Quoting: GuestDoes it break alt-tab and grab the mouse like Blackwell Legacy?
(I was also stuck reading a letter in Blackwell… no way to get out.)
Sorry for the late reply. It does do that when I run the game with my integrated Intel GPU. However I do not have that issue when I set it to run with my GeForce GT 630M. I remember having the same issue with The Shivah but didn't think to check for it or mention it in the article, so thanks for pointing it out.

Thanks. It's 1h48m though and I have a hard time hearing everything that's being said, so some kind of written summary would still be nice.
