The Steam Hardware Survey for August 2016 shows Linux has grown again
3 Sep 2016 at 8:52 am UTC

Quoting: MohandevirWe have to remember that, when added together, these statistic "anomalies" sent us from 1.3% to .83%, during the "Windows10 rush", so there must be something. :)
That something was people updating to Windows 10 & having it trigger the survey the first time they started steam after the update, it's still not accurate & never will be till EVERYONE does it all at once.

Sadly it looks like Shadow Warrior 2 won't be a day-1 Linux release

It might be delayed but at least it won't be delayed as long as the first game was.

Speculation: It's looking like Rocket League may finally arrive on Linux in September

Quoting: HoriI don't think it won't have cross-platform multiplayer... they said that they would allow even console players to play together with PC users if it was allowed by the console companies, IIRC... so there is no reason to lock Linux users out of, at least, the PC multiplayer.
Not to mention that such a port would be useless simply because our community is just too small. We HAVE to play together with Windows users, otherwise we would only play with bots and very rarely with other players, but all-human matches would be very rare indeed. That's the truth: We're few, and even fewer of us want to play this game and even fewer of those will keep playing it for a while, especially after seeing how hard it is to find a match.
Yeah, I think that a good enough reason for cross-platform multiplayer. Surely they wouldn't have bothered working on the port for that long if this was not to be added and the port was doomed to fail.
I don't think it will be a case not putting it in, more a case of not being able to get it to work like the other ports that suffered from it. Then again that might be why it's taken so long, they've spent all this time trying to get iot working.

Quoting: ArthurStill playing it with friends every other day. A release would considerably cut down the amount of reboots I have to do. However a program I'm using every week recently stopped working for me under Linux... sooo maybe not as much as I'd like.
You're under the, possibly false, impression that you're going to be able to connect with your Windows friends from inside the Linux version, after the amount of multi-player games that have had no cross compatibility I'd say it's highly likely to follow that trend as well & you'll still have to reboot to play it with them even after the Linux port finally arrives.

Hopefully I'm wrong as that would seriously be the final nail in the game's coffin for a lot of people.

Too late, I had fun playing it on Windows Christmas last year, at least I think it was last year, it might have been the year before, but anyway it's far too late now.

No Man's Sky has been shown to work rather well in Wine on Linux

Ok I just did some digging & found out there's a regression in nt.dll in Wine 1.9.17, it's been fixed for the next update (I think) but NMS should start if you set the windows version to XP 64bit. Gonna test it once I get wine re-installed.

Planet Nomads looks incredible and it's officially coming to Linux this month

And No Man's Sky is gone! the most recent update to Wine killed it stone dead, typical Wine, every time I get something working they update Wine & break what I had working.

Looks like Subnautica from the Natural Selection 2 developers won't get Linux support

Actually from what I've seen for some games using Unity it IS as simple as pressing a button to port it to Linux, but I'm willing to haggle the point.

I knew it wouldn't be long before the fabled 1% figure would rear it's ugly uninformed head yet again, no-one knows what percentage of Steam users are on Linux because the survey is NOT accurate & never has been, unless they shove it out to every steam user all at once they'll never know how many Linux users there are, but it's damn well more than 1% that's for sure.

New trailer for first-person horror game Syndrome looks good, Linux supported

Anyone remember the movie Event Horizon? well this sounds like a game version of the events leading up to the movie, the ship & crew get lost & taken over by "demons" & everyone dies. Sort of anyway, not sure I explained that well enough, but anyone who has seen the movie will understand.
