Airships: Lost Flotilla is a rad steampunk autoshooter - dev talks Linux / Steam Deck support

As for Proton, I have mixed feelings. On the one hand, it worries me that it's basically giving up on native Linux games. On the other hand, it will arguably hollow out Windows, turning it from an operating system to a platform specification to make games for, which can then be played from the OS of your choice. Which sounds nice.
So he echoes many of the sentiments we have here. In my opinion, I can completely understand the idea that Native Linux games could disappear, but I also doubt that it will happen. With the rise of Godot and open-source frameworks like MonoGame, games are coming out with first-rate Linux support out-of-the-box. Plus, I've heard it said a few times here that Native Linux games weren't all that great to begin with. Such as Black Mesa.

With a Nintendo Switch 2 on the way, I hope Valve make a Steam Deck 2

Quoting: PyrateThat's basically been me these past couple years, a mix of emulation and generally older titles I missed out on. It's a good life; you'll probably never run out of good games, and your backlog will remain enormous for years to come
I have the same idea, although my Steam Deck is mainly an emulation machine at this point. The problem is, I don't enjoy many retro games and I feel like the games I do enjoy have only recently started to come out. Thank God for indie games, though! Even where they're not my taste, I can appreciate the vision behind them. For example, I'm not into the sniper gameplay of Children of the Sun, but I can see the appeal!

Haha, if I need to! Hopefully, I can just use the LAN mode to connect two instances on the same machine

Unfortunately, I can't download any more updates on my Deck. Every time I do, I get an Update Error, saying that an error was encountered during the update process. Apparently this has something to do with the 5 GHz band, but I disabled that and it still didn't work. I also tried modifying the UEFI BIOS time and that didn't work either. :(

Open source evolution sim Thrive gets upgraded to Godot 4

Glad to hear about more developers' journeys with switching to Godot 4. AFAIK, the project migratory is a bit lacking in most parts since it mostly stopped development after 4.1 released. By that point, developers had either switched to Godot 4 already or stayed with 3.

I'm so glad that someone is trying anee gamepad like operating system for handhelds. It's nice to have alternatives to SteamOS, plus ChimeraOS and HoloISO (which aren't as bleeding edge as this)
