Kingdom Come: Deliverance may not come to Linux at all, more bad news

If you consider the usual performance hit that comes from converting DX to OGL... I would have made de same decision. Not going to blame Feral on this one.
For me it should be treated as the exception that proves the rule...
Edit: In a case like that, I like to refer to the maxim that says :
"Garbage in, garbage out." :)

Quoting: Comandante oardoWe should keep in mind that the Windows port of Batman Arkham Knight is aweful at best. Feral probably couldn't bring the game to a decent performance level on Linux.Quoting: camocelticIt's gotten to the point where I've almost stopped caring for announcements of Linux ports from anyone that isn't Feral, Aspyr, or Ethan Lee because it's almost inevitable that the Linux port gets majorly delayed or canceled outright. The Linux port of Batman Arkham Knight was made by Feral... and they, not Warner, cancelled the game.

What one game would blow your mind if it came to Linux & SteamOS?

Totally somewhere else... The already proposed games would all blow my mind but I'd say Lego games. This would make SteamOS/Steam Machine/Linux a great family Platform.

The Feral Radar signal feels empty now. Snif! Snif! :)
Not that it is but there was such a wave of Linux releases lately and the radar was so crowded, back then, that looking at it, atm, gives you this feeling.
It feels like the day after Christmas. ;)
Awesome work Feral!

I don't know if a typical console user who buys a Steam Machine knows about GamingonLinux. The usual reader is really desktop oriented here and, thus, not really prone to use SteamOS. Anyway it's not like if Steam Machines have taken over the console world either... It's just that the survey here might underrate the real SteamOS adoption because we are not the "targeted audience".
Totally speculative, but if 1 out of 5 Steam controllers is sold with a Steam Machine it's still 100 000 Steam Machines (as per original Valve 500 000 sold Steam Controllers info). 100 000 Steam Machines for ±1million Linux users it's still .1%.
I might over calculate Steam Machines impact though...

Quoting: OktorasAnd nobody is mentionning the Steam Controller's gyroscope that's awesome for precise aiming while in sniper mode or middle to long range shots (it acts like a mouse dps reducer). I use it too in Grid Autosports so that it plays the role of a Steering wheel. It needs a little tweaking but the experience is great too.Quoting: ElectricPrismSteam Controller is a Headcrab grafted upon a X360 host. Except instead of being one controller it's two controllers mashed together. You have to choose to completely ignore the top half or the bottom half to hold it where it feels meant to be.It is interesting how different feeling I have for steam controller. I think it is best controller especially for FPS games by far. I really hate Xbox/PS controllers in any FPS style games because they are so inaccurate and need lots of aiming help to ease up aiming. With Steam controller, I can play FPS games pretty well.
Having one left joystick is a huge disappointment for FPS gaming. It fails as a FPS console controller to provide equal utility to my 15 years of playing FPS skill. The bumpers are awesome. The indentation on the left track pad sucks. It should have been raised or left out to feel like a DPad at all.
Quoting: ElectricPrismOn and the steam controller batteries -- how the fuck are you supposed to pry those out of the wings without a knife & slashing your hand. Fuck those batteries hold super tight & never come out.It is super easy to take out batteries - just press the little hinges to up, and batteries will pop out automatically?

Wow! This port rocks! I play it at High (no ultra after Very High?) on my i7-2600 with my gtx960 and it's graphically awesome! The game runs flawlessly.
Even if there is no benchmark to back it, I prefer not to know, it could alter my judgment. ;)
Anyway, I never max out graphics settings. I usually see little gain for a High performance hit. It's great for screen shots and still frames, but useless when you're getting fired at running through like a mad... Max? :)
But it's just my point of view.
Keep doing your awesome work Feral! I might decide too send you cupcakes too! Lol!

Thank you very much Feral!
Is it based on Vulkan? DX12, Metal, Vulkan would have been nice, but I could not find the information, so I guess not.
Nothing to loose asking. :)

Quoting: Armand RaynalQuoting: MohandevirI really do like Nvidia (I have a GTX960 4gb) but objectively, their products are more in the higher end of the spectrum. AMD is always cheaper and a little under Nvidia, when it comes to performances.Nvidia is alone on the highest segments mostly because majority of consumers don't make thoughtful purchases.
On HD4000 and HD5000 AMD was ahead of nvidia(GTX460 being an exception), though that didn't made their market share skyrocket as it should have.
HD6000 et 7000 was on pair, but AMD had better prices for the same performance most of the time.
Nvidia is left alone on highest end products only since GTX 1070 & 1080.
Not surprising as card like GTX 960(not talking about GNU/Linux perf obviously), wich was awefully priced, still manage to sell well, while r9 285/380(x) had pretty unbeatable price/perf ratio and didn't had such success.
Or 780 & 780ti vs 290 & 290X. Nvidia sold a lot of those 780ti while 290(x)+third party cooler or customs 290(x) once they were out was the way to go. 100$-150$ more for +5% performance on launch day ? The - 10-15% less performance in 2015-2016 titles must taste bitter for those who wanted a card to keep for 2-4 or more years.
Quoting: Armand RaynalNot going to argue with you, a full priced GTX960 4gb is just too expensive (got mine for 220$, btw), but I was explicitely referring to Linux performances. I'd probably be using an AMD gpu still if it wasn't for the fact that AMD/ATI had problems with Linux when I converted myself to Linux. In my other life, I was using an ATI EAH-4670 512mb and it rocked! Couldn't say the same on Linux, unfortunately. After that, and I'm probably not the only one, I became hesitant to return to AMD.Quoting: MohandevirI really do like Nvidia (I have a GTX960 4gb) but objectively, their products are more in the higher end of the spectrum. For my part, it proves that Valve needs AMD to create a new price bracket for the Steam Machines.
I really do like Nvidia (I have a GTX960 4gb) but objectively, their products are more in the higher end of the spectrum. AMD is always cheaper and a little under Nvidia, when it comes to performances.
This is probably one of the reasons why the original Steam Machines launch was so "underwelming". I wouldn't be surprise to see a "Steam Machine launch 2.0, VR Ready" when AMD will be all set.
