Larian Studios Working On A New Game While Divinity: Original Sin Is Still Not On Linux

I'm one of those that fell pray to the promise of a Linux version on Kickstarter, although I knew in the back of my mind this might happen. I also figured if it did happen, then I would never donate to a "promise" on kickstarter ever again. I'm just glad that Steam has early access now which is much like kickstarter. This way we can at least see when a version of Linux is released and get early access reviews on the state of the game so we can make informed decisions about purchasing the game.

SpecOps: The Line For Linux Is Official, Being Ported By Virtual Programming

kind of wished Aspyr or Feral Interactive would get more of these ports, those guys seem to really know what they are doing. Things will be so much better for Linux once Vulkan is the standard. We won't have to worry with these odd wrapped ports, this includes the OSX ports as well. Some games work good with the mono wrapped experience as long as it's not too graphically intensive, but with Lords of Xulima and VoidExpanse I get random crashes or hang-ups at random times due to some bugs in mono even with higher end hardware. This is why I've remained on the fence about getting Bioshock and will remain that way with this game. IF or When I see a compatible Vulkan native port when Vulkan is standard then I'll give it a shot.

Valve Officially Drop Paid Mods

Lesson learned it seems, at least they realized this quickly and didn't procrastinate on it. Hopefully we will see a new version that is more fair for the modder and of course start this on a newer product with hopefully the donation option.

Sales Statistics For Linux Games From Different Developers, Part 4

once Vulkan is the new standard, we'll start to see a considerable amount of newer and possibly older AAA titles ported to Linux and Mac. A lot of the effort of this is due to Valve's involvement with the development of Vulkan. I'm really excited at the possibilities of the new VR gear and how much better performance wise we will get from Vulkan.

The GDC Videos From This Year Are Now Online, Including The Video On The Vulkan API

yeah I've been so excited for Vulkan, it really is the future of gaming period. the first test I seen Nvidia do showed rendering time of 330 ms down to 9ms from current OpenGL to Vulkan. and the overall power consumption of CPUs was lower by 79% from drivers that were written in a few hours and where not optimized yet. The rendering time is approx. 3200% better than before. This is why even integrated GPUs will actually be able to run more mainstream games. Can't wait for this to be implemented in distros.

Star Citizen For Linux Is Being Held Up By Crytek

the good thing about Vulkan is that it is a primary concern of Valve so it should be stable by November. Plus with what i've seen Vulkan can do performance wise, it's a no brainer that it can't get here soon enough. but it will all come in due time. So I will continue to be patient and see what all happens once Vulkan has become the new standard.
