Easy peasy. This actually makes the teachie guy in gog looks pretty useless. What else is this guy in charge of to be aware?

Quoting: pd12for authenticity, they could just sign and checksum their files like everyone else?Indeed. Just open source your client and use it to authenticate the downloads so clueless people can benefit too...

I dont have time to play the game so im not participating on this one, but... I love gol coz is my main source to find gaming related news on linux, and aspyr because of the bl2 port! I really enjoyed it!! I would had never played if it wasnt for them

How Steam Computes Linux Sales
10 Dec 2014 at 3:21 pm UTC
I bought TF2 almost at the very begining in windows, but I spent more time on it on linux by far.
I would quit playing if I knew it is counting me as a windows player. I have more than enough games to waste my time already and I dont want to contribute to swell windows numbers even by one thousandth :)
I want to think steam people looking at stats are playing dumb but looking at different figures that the ones they present to us. Just like with the survey. They know the exact hours my client is runnig and if is running in wine or in debian, but playing dumb at the same time like... yeah, we could have all this big data and analyze it... but we are just looking at this small percentage of it... bleh bleh bleh

Quoting: GlennhI wonder how they track free to play games like TF2/dota...very good question... This info should be visible or something
For example, if you play TF2 on Windows for 20 hours but don't buy anything, and then months later switch to Linux and rack up 900 hours while spending a couple of hundred on hats, would that show up as Windows sales?

Keeps up with the news... but their real competition is the humble store and gog, not steam...
So they better bring something better than those two. Open source client would help for sure

You forgot to mention that the engine is not brand new... Its been around since 2001 and it underwent a lot of iterations already
They use it to make commercial games already... This one is an internal game they had in hold in-house (compared to the rest of the games that were contract works payed by some other company)
