new Machinarium build and if this work couldn't be leveraged for other older titles.

Nobody? 75% of the steam userbase use nvidia [External Link] - and you might know that there are a lot of people in the windows and console communities who like to brag about exclusive content.
Alien: Isolation, Dying Light, ARK and many others didn't work with mesa+amd for years because the amd support was relatively new and devs didn't bother because of the small marketshare. This is just a small RTS and I think the same thing happened with it.

Sorry, but that sounds like it was written in the 200Xies.

Let's be honest - for the last years there is absolutely no valid reason anymore to blame AMD for bad driver support. Please don't come up with anecdotal evidence that only refer to very special case - that are actually present for *all* manufacturers.

That's a good thing for Linux ecosystem and progress of Wayland.

There are rumours that Nvidia had no chance getting a platform win with Google Stadia as they have no competitive open-source driver with NVidia being the stakeholder.
If this isn't pressure, I don't know.

Reading lots of feedback and opinions by devs you'll see many being very closed-minded and prejudiced against the Linux ecosystem. Still. After all the years with great dev tools and environments they're still supporting each others opinion that Linux is a hell to support and not worth it (market share).

Moreover, those are typically the same devs that are very thin-skinned when it comes to criticism.
Waiting for this dev to call "us" ungrateful. That's usually the final step in the escalation. :)

So, it would seem this needs a patch before it gets going.

A patch landed and this issue seems to be gone now. Icculus seems to work quick!

Ryan does a great job.

He sure was (is) a very important person for Linux gaming.

Let's see how long it'll take him to fix the black screen ... :D

Same issue for me, seems to be related to libcurl_gnutls.so.4.2.0 from the Steam runtime.
