Definitely faster than Splot.
Speculation: BioShock Infinite Might Be an eON port
8 Dec 2014 at 11:20 pm UTC
Seriously, from my experience Catalyst drivers on
Windows + Direct3D are just running great.
I always had very good performance with no issues worth
mentioning that I can remember (4850, now 7950).
It's different on Linux, yes.

Quoting: oldrocker99I know that ATI has an edge in the hardware of their cards (they are superior for Bitcoin mining), but I have a nephew who is 100% Windows for gaming, and he tells me that the Windows Catalyst drivers are just as poor as the Linux ones and uses nVidia for gaming. (He uses Linux to run a server; he's no fool)No way.

I played BioShock Infinite on Windows.
It's a fantastic game imho, and it would be a shame to "port" it via eON!

"I don't know what my sound system is, but it never worked as expected."
Yes, it's probably PulseAudio, but who knows...

Quoting: EikeThen we would also need:Quoting: XylemonSomething that would interest me (but maybe not others) is what sound system Linux users have. It would be interesting to see how many use ALSA solely, or in combination with JACK or PulseAudio, or they use OSS4 and forget ALSA altogether. If you're adding such an extra question, you'd probably need "I don't know what my sound system is, it just worked out-of-the-box" kind of answer.

I'd buy Planetary Annihilation for 66% off,
but since it does not come with a single campaign,
it's of no value for me, unfortunately.
Yes, I play multiplayer games rarely (almost never).

Shouldn't the monthly GOL survey get a "Reminder article" say one week before end of the current month? If I didn't miss it, the survey for November isn't even covered in a separate article.
Keep up the excellent work!

Aspyr Media Have A New Blog Post On Porting Civilization: Beyond Earth To Linux
20 Nov 2014 at 8:47 pm UTC
Not sure if I should be happy about a company that seem to forget about recently released ports. It would be just fair to at least answer, wouldn't it? Fair enough, it's more fun to write blog posts about highly anticipated upcoming ports than stuff that gives you headaches.
Or has there been any response to the AMD issue that I missed?

Quoting: oldrocker99Aspyr have officially joined my list of Good Guys!I'm still waiting for a blog post concerning BL2 and the performace issue with AMD graphics drivers.
