I'm so happy about this project and backed it instantly!
However, I rather want to see the "real" Monkey Island 3 being made by Gilbert.
On a side note:
Yeah, art is a matter of personal taste but what I see on http://www.garyart.net [External Link] doesn't impress me.
Holy moly, most stuff there (not all) looks awful! :dizzy:

Quoting: seventhats the worst news this month, i loved the first one and i couldn't wait for the second one, a real shame if it would not come to linuxWell, at least for classic adventure lovers (like me), there is maybe the best news in this month. Ron Gilbert (creator of Maniac Mansion and co-creator of Monkey Island) has just announced a campaign on Kickstarter. Thimbleweed Park will be available on Linux! And I have absolutely no doubt that this will get funded! ^_^

The sad part is, unfortunately: They are for sure not worried about us not buying their game.

Is this a tendency we see lately? Companies that formerly provided a Linux port stepping
back from a clear commitment to Linux?
Well, it could also be that "Almost Human Games" never were really committed
to Linux and the port was only necessary to get covered in the Humble Indie Bundle.
With the success of LoG getting covered in a HiB might not be required anymore and,
thus, a Linux port is not a high priority anymore.
I know, I'm a bit pessimistic latley.

Apart from that, the fact that it is a commercial failure shows once more how difficult it got in the indie business to sell your stuff without excessive and professional promotion.

Quoting: scotsman9999I have this game on my want list, but I admit 15 bucks is steep considering what it is. If he had priced this more like 7.99 it would have felt like an easier purchase.IMHO that game is great. While it looks like many other retro-themed platformers, it manages to catch the NES feeling in many detailed and subtle ways. Still, I agree that the price tag is bit too high.

Quoting: SabunI was referring to a Borderlands 2 update. :DWhen can we (AMD user) expect an update which *significantly* improve performance? This depends entirely on AMD, and knowing them, it will be a good 5 years or more down the road if at all. I remember asking this question in 2008, and only in 2013 was my question answered for the games I asked that question for in 2008.

XCOM runs fine.
However, it's hard to compare. When it comes to XCOM, given by the gameplay,
you wouldn't notice bad performance that much compared to Borderlands 2.
Leaving aside the performance, the BL 2 port is indeed excellent,
i.e. no visual artifacts or crashes.

Quoting: ImantsI am little interested here. I am nvidia user so I do not know. Was there a good AMD port for AAA games?Source games run perfect on my 7950.

of an AMD GPU user - it is NOT a good port.
Performance is abysmal compared to the same computer running BL2 on Win7.
Yes, they stated that at release time and even marked AMD "unsupported".
Still, *I* want an update on that matter. What's the reason for the bad performance?
Is it really just the well known "it's AMD drivers quality and we're waiting for a fix"?

Quoting: mr-eggthe mis-information here..I can only speak for BL2 and I must say - from the perspective
Borderlands2 and Borderlands TPS are excellent ports.

That's why I never played it for more than 10 minutes, although the
gameplay is really appealing.
IMHO, it would be fair to get a significant discount on the revamped
version, if you purchased the original release.

Quoting: abelthorneSo, anybody bought it and tried the Linux version? Does it run decently unlike the first port (which was completely unusable)?Agree, the performance of the original release is plain awful.
