Something tells me there wouldn't have been a backlash if they added the same feature, but without "AI" label on it.

They haven't documented it, but they also added arm64 build instructions and FEX submodule.

Now that Steam Linux Runtime and Proton is arm64 compatible the only thing that is missing is the arm build of Steam client.

Strange that still no Windows arm64 support. So Windows developers can't ship arm64 builds on Steam to run without FEX on Frame or other future arm devices.

Quoting: kuhpunktI'd like to see a quote/source for that.
Quoting: whizseClosest I can find is this post on HN from a supposed former Valve employee:That's probably it. I heard it in some video, but can't remember where was it.
"One very senior employee even said that Valve would never make another single player game, because they weren't worth the effort. "Portal 2," he explained, had only made $200 million in profit and that kind of chump change just wasn't worth it, when you could make 100s of millions a year selling digital hats and paintjobs for guns"

I remember Gabe (or someone other from Valve) said that they were disappointed in Portal 2 sales especially after looking at how Steam was already making them much more money than any of their single player games. TF2 hats and Steam made Valve realize that you can make much more money from services, so they focused on that
Steam Next Fest - October 2024 edition is now live with lots of demos

Personally I think these big banners are better because you see screenshots and a trailers and don't have to open a store page for each game anymore

Quoting: XpanderWhat the hell did they do to the list of games? That's because some indie devs were complaining that they don't get enough visibility and most of the attention is taken by already popular games
everything is extremely stupid to scroll through to look for demos you actually want to play.
Used to be small 1 line list before with lots of them on the screen
Or am i missing some option somewhere?
used to be something like this before:
Actually i think it was even smaller banners before... damn why keep changing things for more time wasting on scrolling...
Personally I think these big banners are better because you see screenshots and a trailers and don't have to open a store page for each game anymore
Steam purchases now clearly state you're just getting a license not ownership

I think Valve must add an option for developers to mark their games as DRM-free, because many people apparently don't know that it's possible on Steam too and that some games they may have purchased are DRM-free

Quoting: Doktor-MandrakeI wonder what prices we'll see for their new headsetIf Valve wants to compete with Meta the prices should be reasonable.
Quoting: alka.setzerStores (steam, gog, etc), cloud help with making arm64 viable by offering native buildsSteam already has native arm64 builds support on macOS, and I believe when Valve announces proton-arm it will come with additional announcement of general arm support on all platforms.

Quoting: _MarsIt could provide a good way to test compatibility instead of completely jumping to ARM for the regular DeckI think this is most likely going to be VR headset. It is basically a separate class of devices where it will be safe to test such things. Considering that Valve has been doing a lot of work with SteamVR recently only confirms it more

Interestingly, it seems they do not work with original Waydroid developers, looking at these [1 [External Link]] [2 [External Link]] GitHub pull requests (also this [External Link], maybe they just can't tell though), and instead developing their own fork?
