Looks Like Road Redemption Is Finally On Its Way To Linux
12 Nov 2015 at 6:46 pm UTC

Early Access or not is a bullshit claim when the game was released for Windows in September 2014. It has been over a year and I haven't been able to even install it yet much less play it.

I now ONLY back games that promise Linux on Day 1 (fuck early access loophole). Road Redemption promised it "eventually" as a "stretch goal" and to that I say screw all game developers that only promise as a stretch goal. In order to get my money you MUST promise Linux support on Day 1.

The above approach punishes the jerkwads like this company but doesn't hurt the developers who actually aren't dbags.

Maybe we can call it "Stretch Goal? - No Jerkhole".

Steam Replaces The Linux Tux Logo With SteamOS

I don't care because Tux only expressed "support for Linux" but at the same time didn't advocate for Linux. This kind of adovcates for the platform under a different name.

Here is an idea to chew on . . .

What if the goal of this was to make people think "SteamOS? What is this? Oh is this like the officially sanctioned platform for Steam?" This could cause Developers/Publishers to focus on the platform more since it signifies that Steam for Windows is no longer the main platform and that SteamOS is now THE Steam platform.

This means it gets new games being developed for Linux and even gets new users interested in what SteamOS, maybe even so much so to see what it was made on.

On the other hand, Linux has a very bad reputation for being hard and confusing and "just for nerds", this focuses on the gaming rather than focusing on fixing an arguably "unfixable" reputation.

I think this could be a good thing in the long run especially considering Linux was meant to be foundational not a retail product.

The Steam Controller: Not Everyone Gets It

" Side note: I hope a D-pad makes it in the official release or the left trackpad does a great job of emulating one."

They did say that the left trackpad would also have clicking options in order to be used as a D-pad as well which sounds good to me.

I am actually really excited to try this controller it looks like a fantastic innovation in the controller space.
