PipeWire 1.0 is out now for modern Audio and Video on Linux

I'll sing the praises of pipewire. Aside from gaming, I really do a lot of audio, and it's nice not having to fight with jack. (Once you get jack going, it's perfectly fine, but it can be a pain in the ass, as well.) The less said about pulseaudio, the better. (It really wasn't designed for realtime audio work.)

How to fix the EA app on Steam Deck and Linux desktop

Sims 4 doesn't save in steam cloud or origin's cloud. I learned the hard way. Pour one out for Trevor, whose save is no more. (I don't think Sims 4 is using the new EA app, either.)

PipeWire is the future for Linux audio and I am sold on it

It's impressive, but if you do any kind of audio work, it's not quite there yet, especially for real-time audio. But if you're doing that, you're using jack, anyway.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is out on Steam and runs well on Linux

I think I'm still more a fan of Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution. I've got it on switch, but it looks like it works just as well as Master Duel for Proton. It's like $20, but you can make decks and duel as much as you want without transactions. (I don't know about multiplayer...I tend to keep to myself or just battle locally with it.)

PulseAudio 15.0 rolls out with new features and hardware support

Quoting: tamodoloPulseaudio must die... to much latency.
Yeah. That's why I'm cautiously optimistic about pipewire. I'm using it on my laptop, and it's pretty sweet. I mean, it doesn't replace jack yet, I don't think, but it's nice.

Right on. Feed the spite! I wish I had a buck for every time someone told me I couldn't do something. It's like they're just asking for it at that point. :)

Mass Effect Legendary Edition now playable on Linux with Proton GE

Quoting: DrMcCoyIt's basically this here: https://github.com/simons-public/protonfixes [External Link]

I.e. it's just a small Python function that calls to winetricks. All of that, including winetricks, already comes with Proton GE, you don't need to do or provide anything yourself.
WAy cool. :) I'm all for the path of least resistance, especially if it keeps me from doing actual work today. The galaxy needs saving from Reapers.

Quoting: DrMcCoyThe winetricks line for the launcher is done by Proton GE automatically now: https://github.com/gloriouseggroll/protonfixes/compare/ac9f0346c26c51d8108ccf7d4fe53161da5077b9...b00f45aae0718609ece4c9e70d84fc694613a3ed#diff-2d2f67025fbd63fe3a80fd43776363a425e388a3913a9ccda4a84998443e80f7 [External Link]
ETA: Answered my own question. Looks like it's with proton-GE now. Even cooler. :)

Did you need to add the protontricks/winetricks things to make the launcher show up? Or is that done by default now?

Valheim is just an incredible experience you need to play

Quoting: DMGAdvertisement? Sorry, but I won't buy this game. Still thinking, that it's not worth trying at current stage.
Normally survival games that make you drop inventory and lose ability make me nerdrage, but I'm loving Valheim. I've been bitten by the early access thing, too, but in this case, the hype is well-deserved.
