Well that wasn't the statement I was expecting when I clicked on this article

Good on them!

Sony buy up KADOKAWA shares to become largest shareholder of the FromSoftware parent company

Quoting: KlaasThe name of the Sony president has to be the Japanese equivalent to Mäxchen Müller in German (i.e. a generic placeholder name).

My question is: Does anyone else think that Sony has lost the ability to innovate? It seems that they are stuck with randomly buying some successful company, closing it if there isn't a massive revenue stream at once and then switching to the next target…
I feel they lost it years ago, at least for me

I grew up with ps1, then ps2 in my teen years and the amount of fun games hold alot of memories

But things like the GOW reboots and Last of Us ect isn't my cup of tea, I want fun platformers, or quirky games like Mr.mosquito, or super rub a tub on the ps3

Apart from astro bot there's not really much on the ps5 that makes me feel I need to buy one

and even things like the anniversary themes that appeal to someone like me, its time limited apparently! What a shame

Steam Beta for Dec 11 brings new game update options plus a new downloader style

I've wanted this for years, even before proton as I've had experiences where game updates either break the game, or even just flat-out remove content
You can launch a game without updating if you enter disconnected mode
From my understanding that only works if an update isn't available

If you're online and a game has an update available, and THEN you enter offline mode it won't work, the game has to be fully up to date

I get around this by setting the games to update when game launches and putting the Steam client in offline mode. Games only update when the client is online.

That way, I can take the client online without starting a whole ton of downloads. Of course, unlike most folks, I tend to game without an Internet connection most of the time ...
I've not tried in awhile but doesn't it work like I described above to the other person?

I'd like to be able to connect a steam client online, either to download games or check the store ect, but also have certain games just never update, something more convenient then having to switch to offline mode

I feel its even more important now with their focus on proton, as game updates can make the difference between a game working on linux or not

Path of Exile 2 now in Early Access and it works on Steam Deck / Linux

Quoting: Mountain ManI can't believe there are people paying $30 for a game that will eventually be released for free.
There will almost certainly be new stash tabs or various micro transactions that'll make the game better, and the early access bundle comes with 300 of those coins to do just that, which is actually their current going rate for the coins outside of the bundle. So, in a sense, if you're going to get into POE2 you're going to need to spend this money at some time anyway.
That's how people are justifying it, but the reality is, you are paying $30 to beta test a free to play game.
Maybe some people just want to play early and don't mind paying

Maybe they also just want to support the developer

Glad it's working well under proton

Can't wait to play it, I never picked up diablo 4 because they didn't include local co-op with the PC version

So glad this one does have couch co-op, never played PoE1 but this looks awesome

Blizzard are delisting Warcraft I and II from GOG, so GOG adds a special discount and will keep them updated

Shame there's not a standard discount on top of the discount code

Was waiting for a heavy discount but looks like I'll just have to get them with £1.50 off

New Steam Controller 2 and VR controller designs got leaked
27 Nov 2024 at 7:42 pm UTC

Interested how it would feel in the hands look a tad awkward with the touch pads

I've been using ps4 controllers lately as my go-to for linux, it seems to work better on alot of random linux ports I try compared to xbox controllers so I wonder how this would stack up with it being xinput I would assume the same as an xbox controller

The sonic mania decomp, for example, doesn't recognise my xbox controllers unless I add as a non-steam game, but the ps4 controllers work regardless which is why personally I've been opting for ps4 pads

Not happened to a single decomp so far

Banjo Kazooie should come at some point hopefully since that's 100% decompiled now

Not sure why you disapprove so much over such old games being ported to pc lol
It certainly baffles me that Nintendo hasn't shut down these projects, when Rockstar/Take Two was able to shut down re3/reVC three years ago.
It would be in rockstars best interest as they were planning to release that awful remaster trilogy. They knew those source ports would over shadow their trilogy re-release.

Similar thing happened with duke nukem forever if I recall, a fan game got shutdown before the release of actual DNF because the fan made game looked so much better.

Maybe nintendo just don't see it in their best interests, it's certainty not as urgent for them as, let's say, one of their modern games getting leaked early, or their current system being emulated.

It's REALLY bizarre to see people like him on a Linux Gaming website and be so against old n64 classics getting open sourced linux ports. It's a good thing.
