hell yea! Today I installed V-Rally 2 Expert Edition (directx 7 game) from disc. It installed fine after unchecking the extra install options. The disc check works, the joystick works, and it even renders fine at 1080p with standard Proton 9. Getting D7VK working with it was a breeze.

better late than never I suppose… the biggest culprit here must be the 2 DRM's they are running AT THE SAME TIME (Denuvo and Capcom Protector), and what's worse is that the game apparently checks every single texture going in and out of memory. Such a waste of processing cycles for nothing useful.
Shame on you Capcom for treating your paying customers so badly.

This driver won't support 10 series and earlier any more, correct? Then why are they still listed in the 'supported products' section on the Nvidia website?

I fast-tracked my planned upgrade to AM5 (previously 13600K) because of the RAM prices, I got a nice Crucial 6000-36 32GB kit for 177€, but 2 months earlier it was listed at 90. And now it's listed as 269€ on Amazon, WHAT THE F.
Anyways, I'm very happy I bought the RAM when I did. In half a year I expect 32GB of DDR5 will be a thousand euros/dollars or more.

it wasn't mentioned in the patch notes but it also fixes Mangohud always reporting thermal throttling on RDNA3. Very nice update overall!
KDE Plasma going all-in on Wayland and will drop the X11 session completely

Overall this is a welcome change, I've been running everything under Wayland since about 3/4 year and had zero issues that I could directly attribute to Wayland. Flameshot said something about Wayland being incompatible but the flatpak seems to work fine. I think it's in a good enough state so they can drop the X session entirely

Quoting: MayeulCI fully agree with bisbyx above, nothing prevents a compositor from implementing this today, or even a separate app, like KDE devs did for X11 screen capture compatibility. Obviously better if the apps register shortcuts themselves, though.yea, once the X11 session is dropped, I expect SteamOS will also drop it, though probably not immediately since SteamOS packages are quite far behind.
Quoting: syylkviewport/video memory sharingNow I don't understand this. We already have dma-buf.

Back to the article: an interesting tidbit is that, last time I checked, the Steam Deck was still using the X11 session. I wonder if they are going to change this?

Hopefully this won't cause problems for 32-bit games or 16-bit programs via Wine eventually, I'm assuming the prior version of Steam Linux Runtime will continue to be available for compatibility?
