Dear Valve and Steam Machines OEMs, you have it all wrong

I completely agree with the i3 instead of an i5 and since the i3 and i5 are about $100 difference, even buying them in bulk might bring that lowest end $450 Steam machine below $400. Also, when I saw the i7 in their latest lineup I was truly baffled as to what benefit an i7 will bring to it.
New Steam Client Beta adds fixes for 'upcoming' Vulkan games

To be fair, I know this has to be under the "General" section since it affects both Windows and Linux.

Quoting: tuubiThat's a fair question. Because if it were under the "Linux" section we would know that it was specifically for upcoming Vulkan Linux games. :)Quoting: natewardawgToo bad it's under the "General" section instead of being under a specific platform. :/Why is that bad?

Quoting: liamdaweI imagine Talos is in the extra benchmark article he put behind a paywall. You're probably right, that would make sense.

Wow, I really hope that AMD keeps it up. When I do decide to buy a new GPU I would love to support them instead of NVidia.
I also wish there were some Talos Principal benchmarks in there too. Maybe he didn't do it since you need to manually edit the Talos.ini file to get Vulkan working.

It looks like the last LTS to be 32 bit will be 18.04, which makes the end of it's 5 year cycle April of 2023. This will give 7 years from now for any 32 bit users to prepare. I really don't see this change as a big deal for 32 bit users.
A third of Valve now working on VR, still no Linux support

I hope they have a least a small handful of these people working on Linux/SteamOS support... or at least one?
Buy games from G2A? You should just stop already, tinyBuild lost out on approx $450K of sales

Quoting: GempalmWell if your position is you should be able to sell outside the US for cheaper and those sales should be allowed to be transferred to those in the US, then we have nothing further to discuss because I completely agree. Well, except I would disagree that it's "fraud" or dishonest. Thanks for pointing that last part out. I did try and separate that statement into it's own paragraph for that very reason, but I can definitely see it mixing with the previous. I don't think that buying at $3 and selling at $5 is fraud or dishonest either. I'm going to add an "edit" note for that.

The world is full of dishonest people and they will find some way of ripping you off one way or another if they have their heart set to it. Might as well not make people who want to be honest suffer because of them.
My bottom line is that if you play it smart you will at the very worst get some money from almost every sale while also not punishing your customer and ruining your reputation. Good customer service goes a very long way, especially in a world where it is becoming very scarce. Good customer service also doesn't mean shooting yourself in the foot.
edit: Separated the "dishonest people" statement from the previous paragraph so as not to call the people from the previous sentence dishonest or fraudsters.

Quoting: GempalmThen you have to region lock it so people can't trade it or use it if they travel/move. If not then don't complain when people are buying it for export. Economics 101 is also about scarcity which hardly describes modern computing.I don't need to region lock it. I wouldn't punish honest people because of a few fraudsters. This is just where you need to be careful who you sell keys to and in some cases how many you give out (IE some unknown Youtuber will get 1 key and that's it). Only give them to places that actually have a good reputation to lose, like Humble Bundle. If a Russian decides to buy 100 copies of my game on Steam at $3 and resell it to people (IE Americans) for $5 when it retails at $10, that's fine with me, and everyone like this still won't make up majority of my sales.

Quoting: GempalmAlso, defending region pricing is BS. A lot of us are poor here in America as well. I lost my job in April, maybe I should get preferential pricing? This isn't/shouldn't be forced on anyone, but is always a preference to the developer/publisher. The truth of the matter is that I'm very confident I will make more sales in a place like Peru if I make sure I have prices that are friendly to that region. I know that I can sell copies at the standard rate in the US (regardless that a few people might have lost their job). This isn't about forcing an idea on people, it's Economics 101. If your game costs too much for most people in Russia, they will pirate it instead, so instead of getting $3 for your $10 game, you will get $0. I'll take the $3 :)
