Quoting: BlackBloodRumTbh, I think we have enough "high end" Linux laptops at this point.
Well, yeah, but until now almost all of them used NVidia for graphics. Every single time one of these articles comes up, everyone complains about that. I'm surprised that aspect isn't getting any thanks here.

Quoting: InstallIt looks sleek, I like the red lights on the keyboard.
It is nice, but I would change that to purple.

Plasma 6 full steam ahead with only one showstopper left for Wayland by default

Quoting: BlackBloodRumYou can install a nice, easy to use distro, that sets everything up for you, but has limited customizability. This is great for those that "just want it to work".
Short of ChromeOS, I don't think there are actually any distros like this. Even Mint, which is about as "everything set up" as Linux gets, still has the command line readily available and perfectly functional. You can tinker with it fine if you want--if that was what you wanted, you probably would have picked another distro, but it doesn't in any way hinder you.

"Full Void is a 2D Cinematic Puzzle Platformer set in a dystopian future. A young teenager, scared and alone, must use all their skills to defeat a rogue AI that keeps mankind oppressed."
Looks neat. Wishlisted.
The screenshots give me bigtime Flashback (original) vibes, which is a great thing.
So you're getting a flashback to Flashback.

Quoting: Edgarins29What the hell are sticky keys. They were annoying even in Windows and I always disabled them.
I usually use Windex or something.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumI'm looking forward to watching it compile, the new USE flags, and possible configuration changes that may (or may not) be necessary when upgrading from P5 to P6. etc.

I'm not even joking, half the fun for me on Linux is the tweaking/tuning and generally messing around with it. :woot:
You know, I'm glad we have Linux users like you who tinker, and mess with bleeding edge stuff, finding all the pain points so people like me can use it all trouble-free a couple years later.

Over 5% of The Pale Beyond players were on Steam Deck

Quoting: Salvatos
Quoting: ObscureThe stats they show only add up to 95.43% so is it safe to say the other 4.57% were from Linux users across all the various distros?
They also only show Windows 10 and 11, I would assume they have many players on earlier editions.
I was assuming that was those fabled psychic/magical hackers who work the net with their minds alone! and so there was no OS involved.

Quoting: BlackBloodRumHonestly, I think if more websites made less-intrusive ads in general, that is, skip all the flashy stuff, don't make it so the whole page is littered with them, etc. More people would be willing to go without the adblocker. But most ads are just plain annoying and cause more trouble than they're worth.
Yeah, I recently started using an adblocker . . . well, on one of my browsers on one of my machines . . . because some site I was trying to read something on just wouldn't stop shoving ads in the way. Most of the time, though, I sort of manage the ads: I deliberately click on ads, or "shop" for things, that I have no intention of buying but are pleasant to look at. Then it shows me ads that look nice for a while.

VKD3D-Proton 2.11 released with DirectX Raytracing enabled by default

Quoting: deathxxxThis ray-tracing is just useless. Heavy drop performance for what?
Are someone care about ray-tracing? If you play game, do you look at ray-tracing? Or look other things, like how to keep alive?
I've always had a feeling it's really more of a developer thing. It seems like once you get it working, it would be a lot simpler to set up, with no need for tricks and workarounds--you just set up the light sources, and they shine.
