Quoting: orochi_kyoMeh, the thing is it's about the same with DRM except they're not extending the trust so they're less likely to get the goodwill. Not like DRM really stops piracy or anything.Quoting: MohandevirI would like to see GoG integrate Proton in some form... Maybe offer proton wrapped versions of their Windows games, if at all possible. I'd be a lot more inclined to support them. Having to deal with Lutris or wine is not something that I look forward to...The thing is these anti-drm people don't get what DRM is about, practically you are asking developers to work on a "trust" system when they depend on the "goodwill" of people that they will not share the game you bought without DRM through any portable storage system to other people that didn't buy the game.

I'm not into the tiling thing, but I'm glad this exists because a fair number of people are into it and it seems like it's probably genuinely useful if your workflow goes that way.
Although I still think we should be suspicious of temptations to multitask; I would wager there are a good number of people out there who use multiple windows, screens etc. for the wrong reasons and think it's increasing their productivity when it is actually dividing their attention, forcing them to waste time repeatedly reorienting, and preventing them from getting much flow in any one task.

Incidentally, those axes the guy is implausibly double-wielding instead of using a shield like a sensible Viking, are weird looking and probably less effective than the narrow-bladed axes people really used which would penetrate armour far better. At least he doesn't have a horned helmet. Sure, he's a moron for going bareheaded, but let's say he's berserk.

Quoting: wvstolzingIt's not like there aren't tons of interesting historical settings where assassins would fit just fine and you could call it "Assassin's Creed" and more or less mean it. You got your original Middle East Hashishin. The glory that was Rome (or shadows behind same); the political mazes of Byzantium. Imperial China. Plausibly the ancient Persian empire. Anywhere urban and sophisticated. Plenty of places you could do franchise entries with actual assassins.Quoting: Purple Library GuyIs it just me or is "Assassin's Creed" kind of an odd name for a game about Vikings? It's the established brand name they slap on top of historical period dramas that probably would fare better without any of the convoluted & incoherent (beyond redemption) 'lore' and backstory that comes trailing behind that name.
I really can't fathom why they think the game wouldn't sell as well without the AC name attached to it; what a bizarre place to look for 'safety'.
Viking England, not so much.

Wow, they have this much before even getting to the Kickstarter? Already looks pretty damn snazzy.
The one thing that jarred for me was only because of the narration--after that cool accent from the game designer suddenly you get this generic American-sounding guy voicing a character and it just breaks my belief in the dude as a Slavic peasant. But if there weren't the contrast with the cool-sounding game designer it wouldn't be nearly as bad.

Quoting: MohandevirI have few concrete memories from that young, but one is a Canadiens playoff game. The action's at the opposing team's goal, it's been fast and furious and everyone's down or sprawling including the goalie and the puck is dribbling away. Guy Lafleur is pretty much down on his face and the puck is actually behind him, he gets up to about his knees while spinning, I swear without even looking, and one-times it straight into the goal, all in one motion. It's like he was using the frigging Force, nobody could believe it. Been a Guy Lafleur fan ever since.Quoting: Purple Library GuyYeah! Sad for the Canucks... I was playing NHL 92' or 93' (not sure) running it on a 486 DX2 66... Bure-Ronning-Courtnall and later Mogilny. Linden, Jeff Brown, Dan Ratushny (who was totally overrated in the game) Kirk McLean and Kay Whitmore... I forget many more... It's the first team I completed a season and playoffs with.Quoting: MohandevirWhat could tip the balance, for me, being a Canadian/Habs hockey fan... EA Sports NHL... That's the only reason I could consider keeping an active account on Stadia and sports ips are lacking a lot on PC, in general and even more on Steam.A fellow Canuck, eh? I lived in Montreal for just a few years when I was a kid--it would have been 1970-77 or so. The Canadiens were winning and winning, it was a great time to be a Montrealais. Now I live in Vancouver, and the Canucks lose and lose. Or sometimes they do really well but crap out at the last minute. I've kinda given up.
Personnally I began following the Habs after the 86' Stanley Cup... "Le Petit Viking" (Mats Naslund) being my favorite player. Actually it's not a lot more glorious, in Montreal. The team as been doing really bad, in the last years. Excluded from the playoffs for 4 years out of 5... Nothing to boast about.

Quoting: ScrumplexAlso more user friendly for people who have been using Linux for donkey's years but somehow never got around to learning how to write scripts. Some of us are artsies, dammit!Quoting: XpanderI don't really get why you would extra tool for that as nvidia-settings also provides those features. But having for both vendors in the same place is a good thing ofc. This tool can change the saturation based on the running application. Meaning it can automatically enable / disable some high saturation mode when your game starts/stops. Of course this can be replicated with wrapper scripts or with Feral's GameMode's script hooks, but this is more user friendly for people coming from Windows, as it provides the same functionality as the Windows equivalent.
