Valve said they're going to be bringing in voice chat later too.
My God, we'll be able to chat on the phone with voice! It's revolutionary!!!!
Considering Steam has given us SOOO MUCH -- a Client, VR, Big Picture, Controller Support, Kernel upgrades, SDL Upgrades, DXVK, Proton, a Official Linux Distro, and so much more...

Meanwhile GOG has given us: A Web App. ZERO LINUX CLIENT

I am not sure why any non-novice Linux Gamers would applaud GOG and put Steam down
It's a joke, son. Some of us come from the days when chatting with your voice was what phones were for.
It wasn't about GOG vs. Steam. If it was, I wouldn't have been shy about saying so.

Time for school as the big Cities: Skylines - Campus expansion is out now

Sports, bah! I want a high energy physics building with which to destroy the world, an arts campus which will spin off philosophies that could either improve or seriously worsen morale in the city, a business/economics school which will attract big donors but will also, as the percentage of managers in your city who are graduates increase, increase stratification so you end up with some areas turning very luxurious while others become slums, archaeology & paleontology departments which will discover relics and dinosaur skeletons to make your museum a much bigger attraction . . .

Regions Of Ruin, a side-scrolling RPG with town-building is now on GOG

Maybe it's just me, but I have this instinctive feeling that the "side-scrolling" viewpoint puts some radical restrictions on the concept of "town-building" (and even on "RPG"). I mean we're talking about one and a half dimensions here--a side-scroller all pretty much takes place on a line, with OK a bit of texture on the line where you can go up and down a bit. How much town can you build?

Risk System looks like a shoot 'em up not to be missed, out with Linux support

Huh. Different kind of retro . . . I never really played pixelated games much when they were a thing so they're just games to me, but one whiff of that anime soundtrack and the nostalgia hit.

A look at all the good deals going ahead of the weekend, come find a bargain

Quoting: kuhpunktMeanwhile Epic completely fucks up their sale?

https://kotaku.com/publishers-pull-their-games-from-epics-store-during-its-1834828248 [External Link]

They made the sales and not the developers/publishers? That's nuts.
I really dislike Epic, but this doesn't actually look like they did anything all that bad. Stuff happens.

What I find more interesting is the nature of the sale itself--it's a massive loss leader. They are putting a significant sale on everything in the store, and reimbursing all the game companies for the difference, which means for the duration of the sale they are actually losing noticeable money on every game that sells. Another case where they are using their deep pockets to drive traffic, in an attempt to get more people using their store, no matter how many dollars it costs in the short term. It's a bit like some of those price wars between airlines where whichever one has more cash reserves tries to drive the other one/s into bankruptcy so they can bump their prices up again later once there's no competition.
So to be clear: If the store succeeds and they get big market share, sales like this will never happen again unless they need to crush an upstart. They're in business to make money; up front losses have to be temporary.

Strategically, I do find myself wondering if they may have misjudged the relative depth of their pockets and Valve's. Which is bigger--the revenue from The Big Game Right Now, or the revenue from All The Games?

"if you really wanted to," he says. As if anyone doesn't really want to have an army of undead chickens.

I think I want to buy this just because they have good taste in music. I've always said Holst's "Mars" would make awesome game music, although I was thinking more space combat.

Quoting: Patola- Many updates completely changing the game rules; yes, I know, it is an improvement, but in practice I had to restart to enjoy it.
Honestly, restarting is pretty much a game mechanic. Once you are the most powerful empire on the map, there is really nothing else left to do - the fun is in everything you do to get to that point :) I have high-triple-digits hours in Stellaris and never once "completed" a playthrough.
Well, there are one or two things. Once I'm powerful I like to build a few megastructures just to rub the other empires' noses in my superiority. But yeah, actually getting to the win is pretty dashed optional for me too.

Quoting: Maath$173 for a video game is hard pill for me to swallow.
Yeah, yeah, someone always says something like this. Then someone else points out that in terms of $ per hour played, it's still a great deal compared to most games. And that the notion you have to buy all the DLC to get a decent game out of it is greatly exaggerated; I myself have, I dunno, around half of them?
Then there's usually some back and forth. Maybe we could skip it this time? Edit: Oops, already too late!
