Is it just me or does anyone else feel weird when someone called Slitherine talks about their founding values?

Get Monster Hunter World, Rise, Sunbreak and Iceborne in the latest Humble Bundle

Quoting: PenglingA great bundle here, but it's worth noting that Monster Hunter Rise is one of many games that Capcom has added The Enigma Protector DRM to [External Link] after removing Denuvo, which is not declared on the Humble page.

Originally Capcom also left this undeclared on the Steam pages for every game they've added The Enigma Protector to, for at least four or so months, but they have now finally fixed that, at least.
So Capcom is working with a Batman villain? Mr. Edward Nigma up to his evil schemes again!

The problem with improving a bad update system is, you have to use the old update system to update to the new update system . . .

For some reason I'm imagining the actual attitude of a Norse settler/farmer towards this place. "So, I've got my homestead up and running, everything's pretty prosperous, and I hear far to the West there's a land where there's ash and flame and undead monsters and nothing grows. Well, guess I know where I'm not going!"

Manjaro 24.0 released with KDE Plasma 6, GNOME 46, Linux kernel 6.9

Quoting: finaldestThis update really did give me a headache. Last night I saw an update available so opened terminal and initiated. 30 mins later the update gave me a black screen and completely destroyed my install. Despite my best efforts I was unable to recover my install. I had no backup solution
IMO, it doesn't matter what distribution or indeed what OS you're using, it's a good idea to do a backup before you do an upgrade or reinstall. If you turn out to need that backup, that's the distro's bad, but not having one is unwise.

Quoting: ssj17vegetaAs a long-standing (K)Ubuntu user for the last 15 years, I was wondering, is Manjaro the "rolling release distro with the power of Arch minus the hassle of reading tons of documentation" or not ?
I'm not sure, but as far as I can make out from the variety of opinions, the answer is, "Yes, absolutely! Except when it isn't."

Quoting: MohandevirJust got the upgrade, on my PC... After the update, I was left with an empty desktop. All the apps had been removed. I had to reinstall the desktop with "pacman -Qqn | pacman -S -" to get them back.

Hu... rray!
Sounds like the good old days with Mandrake. Well, the not-so-good, old days.

Ghost of Tsushima single-player only on Steam Deck due to PlayStation Network features

Darn. When I saw the headline, somehow I thought it was that only Steam Deck that was able to play offline single player, everyone else would be forced to be on the Playstation Network all the time. So, like, a bonus for Steam Deck users. Not so much, huh.

EA want to put adverts in your video games to squeeze you for every penny

Quoting: mallogFor a Linux site, I'm surprised no-one has mentioned this. The adverts will probably be delivered through a specific domain, which can be blocked in your firewall.
Knowing EA, they'll probably have locally-stored ads ready to go for offline use, too, hahaha!

LPCAMM2 upgradeable RAM for laptops sounds awesome

Quoting: ToddLIt's cool that this type of technology exist but it just feels like manufacturers will continue to use the model of soldered on RAM because they can charge more for it.
In what sense? I imagine there are rather few laptop buyers who are going to look at two otherwise identical laptops and buy the one with the higher price tag because its memory is soldered in.
