Whatever the price may be, I'm hoping Valve can at least make the new Machine a very stable experience with all the lessons learned through the Deck and with these updates. We should all care a bit more about the easy on boarding for people unfamiliar with Linux and PCs perhaps, especially in keeping performance up.

Even without Linux as a factor, Galaxy by itself *barely* feels like something you can put much trust into in terms of functionality. I hope they can get developers that are capable of actually fixing it up, possibly redoing it as a whole, and take that as a basis for Linux support.
One can dream I guess, but I don't really count on much from GOG, just that their installers will be convenient someday.

The ARM SteamOS project runs so deep huh, I honestly have been less apprehensive about the adoption towards this architecture as of late since so much work is being put into compatibility for it. Hopefully this can help keep hardware budgets at least a bit somewhat in check.

They have put up a standalone release in their website now, also simply bundles it in with librequake. No need to own Quake and give money to the Microsoft mob indeed :>

I have to wonder how possible it is that there's some sort of organization targeting this game like what happened with payment processors recently. These companies (not necessarily Valve, but could again be payment processors or some partners of them too) can easily use the call of an angry organization, no matter how small, as an easy excuse to act on something they agree with but know will draw bad PR, but the excuse hasn't been put up yet so it's hard to say. However all you really need is the right push a lot of the time and censorship gets worse, this should be unacceptable to make sure we can still have art at all in the future.

I played this for over a year using my Steam Deck and I don't think anything changed. Is this just Valve being sloppy with certification again?

I'm waiting for 5.0, which should be out in the coming months. They've got lots of good stuff cooked up for that update and at least over a year of work has been put into getting it polished up, a whole overhaul of the launcher and networking is going to be the main appeal.

Hell, this is actually pretty notable in my eyes as I think it'd be the first time we'd get one of the Resident Evil remakes bundled with its original counterpart, even though this one is also pretty different from the rest.
I gave these a spin on the Steam Deck so I'll give you a heads up, VSync messed up cutscenes so I turned it off and used the regular framerate cap, and I also got the FPS Fix for 0 that's listed on the pcgamingwiki to get it to stick to 60FPS, though you can also just play at 30 if you want, this will require a DLL override. These issues seem common for the port overall though, so no specific Linux issues as far as my about half an hour of initial play is concerned.
