Best way to get GOG cloud saves on Linux is Heroic, I'll be trying this out at some point this week.
Run Stranglehold at least once and then it will sync properly, happy to report that the fixes work as intended under Proton (GE at least) too. Good stuff and underrated game.

Having FOV quickkeys for Strangehold and cloud saves seems nice. Best way to get GOG cloud saves on Linux is Heroic, I'll be trying this out at some point this week.

Even more (yes, again) classics join the GOG Preservation Program

I don't know about the other games but there's a nice open source native port of Blake Stone with QoL you can get, it's called BSTONE.

Konami Collector's Series: Castlevania & Contra enters the GOG Preservation Program

Just because they did some additional restauration with other titles doesn't mean they would or even can rework every game. They just make sure it runs on the current Windows (!) release.
That is correct, and I don't think this is wrong on its own, but you should still never take them at their word when they say it's "the best version of this game you can buy on any PC platform" to mean that you're gonna have an ideal experience with the game if it's one that got multiple releases. As I already mentioned, these games exist in way better forms in many other places and even back then, this collection was not considered high quality. That's the marketing stunt that's not very clear to many.

This game does not include the actual Nintendo game data and requires you to provide your ROM so it's as clean as all the decompilation/recompilation ports we've been getting for N64 games recently. Unlikely Nintendo can do much unless you actually try sending over the game with the ROM.

"The best version of this game you can buy on any PC platform" is a HUGE technicality. What this is is a very old release of these games in a collection that had shoddy emulation and a subpar port to PC back in 2002. GOG fixed up this specific release to solve compatibility issues with current Windows, but not anything else, you get a better experience out of either emulating them yourself or buying Castlevania/Contra Anniversary Collection on Steam, which are much better done collections by M2 and include more games from each respective series overall.

The GOG Preservation Program is a marketing stunt, when they do well it's great (See Alpha Protocol, Resident Evil and Dino Crisis) but most games simply get wrappers to solve basic incompatibilities and then get slapped with the label to make them more appealing on the store. I suggest practicing caution with their Preservation Program releases and looking into if other stores or platforms you have on hand don't have better options, which you can easily find for Castlevania and Contra on any current console or PC through Steam thanks to the anniversary collections I already mentioned.

Atari acquires the rights to five classic Ubisoft titles

If Nightdive gets to do Cold Fear like they did The Thing that'd be a real treat. The other games here have good ideas to iterate on too if Atari ever felt like giving them to a studio interested in making new entries.

Ubisoft must be desperate for money though, but better for us if their IP is distributed.

The pattern of showing pre-alpha footage where the game is clearly still in the direct port to KEX phase without any remastering done for the trailers in this and Dark Forces makes me think Disney is rushing them hard with this. I wonder what the turnaround was with DF and how long they have to finish the remaster work here, they didn't even get time to extend some sprites to 16:9 for this trailer.
