Wine Is Now In A Code Freeze For Wine 1.8

Quoting: ShmerlStill waiting for functional DX11 support. I wonder what will happen first. DX11 support in Wine, or official Witcher 3 release for Linux?
I don't think this will happen at all. At this points it's obvious it's gone the way of Mad Max and Batman: Arkham Knight ports.
Is it really confirmed that neither of these titles will come to Linux though? All I've read about either one is hearsay, speculation and pessimistic assumptions.

Looks Like Mad Max Won't Come To SteamOS & Linux

Quoting: TheBossDoing a simple "+1" post is actually against Steam's own rules, someone quoted it to me before but it's true.
I know that this is the case if read literally:

Do not do any of the following:
[...]
* Post spam (i.e. +1, 10char, rickrolls)

But having people express their will to buy a product if it meets certain criteria (Linux port) is far from spam and very far from say rickrolling. Most times, a +1 does not add anything. An argument doesn't get any better by someone signing it as well, it has to stand on its own, on it's contents. But for peopling interested in a product, it makes a huge different if it's 1, 100 or a million. There, the number of supporting people is a decisive difference.
I remember reading that thread a while back, and what you are saying was my thought as well.

It's quite possible that the moderators were (willfully?) misinterpreting the rule because it was never intended to apply to such a purpose as when to gauge interest in a product-release. Rather it was intended to stop people from simply adding "+1" to every other discussion, without contributing arguments or anything else themselves.

In essence, their closing the thread could be interpreted as "+1 for windows only, end of story!".

Pillars Of Eternity: The White March Part Two Launches In January 2016

Yeah, I'll buy this and part one early in the new year. I've clocked 116 hours in the game, I've upgraded the stronghold to the max and sweeped through every location and minor quest I could find, but strangely enough I haven't played it to the end.

As I recall, it was a week long trip that interrupted me before I could reach the end and I've put off resuming gameplay for a long time. With this double-expansion it seem like I (inadvertently) made the right choice to put the game on hold.

Steam Machines, Steam Link & Steam Controller Officially Released & SteamOS Sale

Quoting: Segata SanshiroWell, there go my extremely unrealistic hopes of a Fallout 4 release :(
Heh, I nurtured the exact same fantasy up until the actual (anticlimactic) announcement came. At the very least I felt it was not totally unrealistic to hope for a "Coming to SteamOS spring/summer 2016" message.

I really must admit I had expected more...much, much, *much* more from valve. I guess hope is not lost yet but if Linux/steamOS is to ever become a realistic "Gamers Choice" then a serious driving force is needed. Someone who is really dedicated to *pouring* money and resources into the process of making lots of big, fancy aaa-titles available.

Sunday Section: What Was Your Biggest Linux Gaming Letdown So Far This Year?
2 Nov 2015 at 8:07 am UTC

In general I'd have to say "AAA Absence". The great flood of linux games still feels almost exclusively like "tiny indy projects".

Not that I dislike indy games but when it comes down to which games I really *want* to play, these small titles makes up (generously) 20-25% of those games I have any actual interest in.

IF... "The Witcher 3, Mad Max, and the upcoming Fallout 4" were all released for linux before the end of 2015, then the year might have "barely made the cut". I'm fairly certain this will not happen.

Brian Fargo Crowdfunds For Classic RPG Series Sequel "The Bard's Tale"

Wonderful!

The original game, was the game that got me hooked on crpgs in the first place, it assured that no matter how many great adventures, strategy-games or (somewhat later) FPS-games I played, I would always remain a crpgamer first & foremost.

I still remember spending plenty of time making hand-drawn maps with pencil & ruler, of Skara Brae and the surronding towns, as well as fretting over my character choices and wondering if I should have formed a diiferent adventure-party in the first place.

Such a treat to get this on Linux, another Day 1 purchase!

Valve Finally Have A Proper Refund Policy For Steam
2 Jun 2015 at 6:54 pm UTC

Nice, although it´s a pity the policy doesn´t include some kind of retroactive function. I have a folder in my steam-libraray marked: "Trash". Out of my 280+ games those are the handful that I consider so worthless to me, that I´d accept anything simply to have them removed from my steam-library.

If I could get 1 dollar for each of those games, that´d be christmas.

Sword Coast Legends, A Dungeons & Dragons RPG Announced For Linux, Day-1 Linux Release
2 Jun 2015 at 6:09 pm UTC

Wishlisted & Followed.

Considering that I have played all modern (1997-present) games, with expansions, that has taken place in "Forgotten Realms", as well as some of the real oldies (SSI/Goldbox), this one was a pre-purchase no brainer.

XCOM 2 Revealed, Will Be Getting Linux Treatment

Oh gods, I think this just trumped both "The Witcher 3", "Mad Max" and "Batman: Arkham Knight" as "Most Anticipated Linux AAA-title". ^_^

Torment: Tides Of Numenera RPG Has A New Trailer

Quoting: DrMcCoy
Quoting: FeistHowever, I´m hoping that it´s TBwP, like Pillars.
Pillars is Real-Time with Pause, not turn-based. Unlike the Infinity Engine games, combat in Pillars isn't even turn-based under the hood; it's fully real-time.

From what is currently known, Torment: Tides of Numenera will be fully turn-based, like Wasteland 2. But unlike Wasteland 2, combat in Torment is supposed to be mostly optional (at least depending on your playstyle and character). There's nearly always going to be other ways to solve things than through combat.
Oops, my bad. A weird typo, since I was (obviously) thinking RTwP, after all TBwP would be quite redundant (unless it was something like a chess game were you get a fixed amount of time to pick your move, but in this case you could pause if you absolutly need to).

About Torments combat, well it´s not that I dislike tb-combat, I just felt a bit overflooded with the resurgence of this type of combat and when it´s done well (xcom for example) it can be great fun! The idea of a non-combat crpg also feels very interesting, I can´t wait to see if they manage to make that approach entertaining or not.
