Ya, try Borderlands please! The Borderlands games and XCOM run perfectly under the AMD open source drivers, so gogogogo, test them!

Larian Studios Detail Why The Linux Port Of Divinity Is Taking So Damn Long

Always "middleware" issues. I really wonder what does developers smoke. Don't get me wrong, I appreciate any efforts taking to supporting Linux and I know how in software-development something always goes wrong, but there are way too many developers out there who use(d) Kickstarter and promise certain features and OS-support while they use a middleware/engine (version) that can't handle that.

Looking at you (excerpt):

Contagion (old version of the source engine, no linux support)
7DaysToDie (now works [more or less], but before they used a middleware that only supported Windows)
...

there are _MANY_ more games out there, some I know, others I don't.

That's not a fine attitude towards pledgers. If I pledge toward a certain level and it gets reached I assume (naive boy that I am) that you will deliver before the end of time.

So glad I didn't support this game before. Don't get me wrong: I will probably buy it, once it's released for Linux. But before the devs won't see a cent out of my wallet!

And if it takes too long maybe I'll be occupied with other games.

I greatly appreciate any efforts taking in that direction and the game is truly awesome but... no matter how many copies they sell it will never be enough because there are so many wars raging around this planet and no matter who wins, we all lose in the end.

Still, even a small drop can make a difference!

Why Are We Still Dual Booting?

Although I'd consider myself a Linux first I do have a Windows partition.

The reasons are my career and my studies at university. I wanted to take some courses on game-development and stuff and although we're pretty open here, the games most run on the faculty computers to be graded. And they use windows in that graphics department.

Although I work (and game) under Linux 99% of my time I do not hate Windows. I do not like some aspects like ntfs, the registry, the lack of repositories and quite a few more things and while I personally totally prefer my Archlinux systems I do have one partition in my household that runs Windows (10) and of course I do start Steam there and I even play some games that won't run performantly under my Linux-system with the open source drivers.

I refuse to use the proprietary drivers which often break my system and rather use a completely distinct proprietary system where I do not have to care for certain aspects as it's not a productively used system.

Feral Interactive Are Behind The Batman: Arkham Knight, GRID Autosport And Company Of Heroes 2 Linux Ports

Quoting: GuestI’ll get GRID and Mordor, not sure about the other two as I don’t know anything about them.

Edit: assuming they work under Linux and not only SteamOS and Ubuntu, of course, because I don’t plan on using any of those two distros.
Of course they'll work, but there won't be support. And I totally understand this. I mean devs don't support every version of windows either and there is a lot less than there are distros out there.

The community will handle this ;)

I'll buy Batman, Mordor and CoH for sure. The Batman games all were really epic. Even the last one, not made by Rocksteady, although it was not that good.

Quoting: CreakI've been playing 5 hours yesterday (Manjaro, AMD open source drivers) and I've been surprised of the performances actually. It's not perfect, I'm often under 30fps, but I have a pretty old machine so I'm not surprised by that. It actually works as good as the two Civilizations, but the rendering is far better on Cities: Skylines (with the radeon drivers).
What's your graphics card model?

Shadow Of Mordor Wins GDC Game Of The Year, Linux Version Due This Spring

Not sure if they only want to support 10.9 tho. I mean, why did many of the last ports support "only" OpenGL 3(.3)?

Quoting: MaelraneActually I do hope they use OpenGL 3.3 but nothing more. Else I can't buy, nor play on Linux. :) I couldn't care less for graphics.
My apologies for sounding harsh but, if you can't use anything above OGL 3.3, then it is time for you to get new hardware or just deal with the fact you have outdated hardware and there will be games you cannot play. If past games are any indication (they usually are) this game would get 15-20fps (if not worse) @ 1080p with an gtx970-980 with all the settings turned up which is completely unacceptable and they shouldn't even bother wasting their time to port it. On the other hand we have the Metro Redux games where they said to hell with older hardware, used OGL 4 and it ran 55-60fps most of the time with everything turned up (except SSAA) on one of my 970's @ 1080p. There were people who were butt hurt they couldn't play it, but it looked and ran really well on Linux. That series is one of my favorites from recent years as well.

Again, a bit harsh but it is the reality. We don't want Linux games getting the name of cut down like consoles because we can't run them. We are already a niche, don't turn it into a complete joke too. Remember this is also a DX11 only game for windows users so your card would not play it there either.
Actually my outdated hardware is perfectly capable of using OpenGL up to Version 4.1, but not under Linux with the open source drivers :)

If it uses a version greater than 3.3 I'll buy it on Linux, wait a week and then simply play through it on Windows I guess.

Linux is my working os and I do enjoy gaming there, but before I install the proprietary drivers I'd rather switch to windows for the few hours I game.

I haven't used Windows in a long while, but that's the decision I would make, while supporting Feral and hopefully getting more and more games to Linux.

I won't buy no non-linux games in either scenario, so...

I still don't think they'll use OGL 4, or has Mac support for it now? (I'm not an mac expert)
