But you already know what the word "beta" means? Did you report your error?
Cool, in some blog/forum post it says it's still beta, while at the store page it simply has the steamos icon :)

But yes, I do know what Beta means, and no, I don't care.

Albion Online shows off the Guardians, huge beasts to take down in PVE
23 Jun 2017 at 7:27 pm UTC

What bugs me here, is that while it's great Albion Online has more PVE content, you still need to be a high level and have a reasonably sized crew to take them down. The developers actually recommend a group of 10 people team up to take them down, so that could reduce the amount of people who manage to do it even more.
Yes, I also don't get why a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game is not soloable... Why can't everything be like WoW, which is like a nice chat in a Singleplayer, with the occasional (anonymous) partying content?

-.-

Same for the PVP rants all the time, in the comments. I mean, I get it: A lot of people want to PVE. It's fine by me. Maybe that game simply isn't for you, maybe the devs know that and want it that way.

What I don't get is people trying to make a MASSIVELY (!) Multiplayer game to become some small coop game. Really, doesn't want in my head. Maybe I am simply too old.

Wine 2.2 released with even more Shader Model 5 instructions and work towards Direct3D command stream

Quoting: [email protected]Wine IS one of those reasons.
Following down that rabbit hole, what would you expect if there was no Wine, more or less Linux adaption?

Personally I would expect far less of the software that comes to my beloved penguin via Wine. Many stuff is just running because there is Wine, with not even the slightest interest of the responsible ones to bring this to Linux otherwise.

Linux may dominate the world of computing, from servers to smartphones to the web and even my heart... but it does not dominate the desktop and I think that Wine is an as good as possible solution for a lot of usecases.

Mesa now has a patch to enable a shader cache for radeonsi (AMD)

I honestly don't know: does amdgpu (mesa! Not proprietary pro one) profit from this?

The open source Vulkan driver 'radv' for AMD on Linux has patches for geometry shader support

Quoting: MaelraneI hope that all those patches will fix my first attempt at a vulkan engine :)

Actually the main thread just crashes and it looks like a RADV problem :/
As great as radv is, you might want to test your engine on AMDGPU-Pro as well. No need to make your work even harder than it is. Although this particular bug seems like something you might be able to catch with the Vulkan debug layers.
Not targeting proprietary drivers at all (not gonna test on nvidia either). Just a pet project to me, to see how far I can come porting one of my OpenGL engines to Vulkan and from C++ to Rust.

Albion Online announce new equipment, new PvE content and more coming in the 'Galahad' update
22 Jan 2017 at 8:07 am UTC

I fear that all this pve content will destroy the player run economy, thus the sandbox. I fear this will kill the ideas behind Albion that I bought and supported. More Pve content (from NPCs) means less interaction required between players. Not only for PvP but in general.

My thoughts on the MMO Albion Online on Linux, many months later

Albion still is a sandbox. If you want clear instructions go play a fucking themepark. Really. I am done with people always hopping on board promising sandboxes and then nagging around.

Just leave, there is the door.

I for one WANT PVP and a TRUE sandbox!

Divinity: Original Sin may soon work with Mesa drivers

I just hope Linux drivers (*) will never get bloated with some optimal render paths for certain games, because that's just putting the cart before the horse.

Either game devs learn to fucking programming, or there fucking games should never be published/released.

Same nonsense as with browser-crap. Just because every idiot thinks he knows how to write html (who actually doesn't) suddenly browsers had to implement tens of thousands workarounds. Well "had to", one idiot started with that shit and then everyone had to.

It's idiotic. Learn the goddamn api. Not talking about some settings obviously. They are specific and I agree that stuff can go in there. But generally speaking, I don't want huge drivers just because of incompetent devs.

(*) I mean the mesa/open source ones, obviously. I don't care for any shit nvidia or amd put in their proprietary nonsense.
