The Linux-powered Atari VCS is getting upgraded to AMD Ryzen, shipping dates pushed back

My opinion from was that they had to use Ryzen, otherwise this would not had a chance. So now they are doing what I believed was the right thing. :P I still do not think this project takes too long but that it took so long for that decision is not exactly reassuring, neither they give at least some info that would show that they are really doing something real.

Godot 3.1 is out, a massive upgrade for this impressive open source game engine

Quoting: gustavoyaraujoDoes anyone know any linux title developed on it?
The most known probably is:
The Interactive Adventures of Dog Mendonça and Pizzaboy

It demonstrates that Godot is fine. I thought that The Journey Down was also in Godot but maybe I am wrong, the wikipedia only says: Adventure Game Studio.

Puppygames are making all their games free for Linux, with Basingstoke first

Quoting: Sir_DiealotEDIT: starts on my old Laptop with almost identical software setup. Not a clue what's wrong, but at this point it's very likely some config issue on my part.
interesting note about my initial experience with Arch. A lot of games do fail to start if needed fonts are not installed and there is no indication that this is the problem. So the first thing I would do, it would be to search and install every font that I could find. I can not say if this is the problem, but it was an experience with many games when I installed Arch for the first time.

Quoting: Sir_DiealotNot quite sure it's a game I will enjoy playing, but I bought it anyway (on itch of course).

Unfortunately it crashes on startup. Arch Linux with i3. Can someone else confirm?
The game run fine on me, no crashes. I have Arch Linux/KDE/RX 560.

The Talos Principle has a new beta with an upgraded Serious Engine, removes OpenGL in favour of Vulkan

Ok I run the game on my amdgpu desktop and it feels a lot better! (I had some microstuttering before) nice :-)

Quoting: GuestI tried Serious Sam 2017 Fusion as well and there OpenGL support is gone already, but maybe it is available in the previous version. If there is an issue with ANV it is probably the best to write a bug report (if not done yet).
I am not talking about any bug with the game. It is just the way it is with vulkan on intel HD 4400. It is very clear that vulkan support is only experimental on that gpu. I am just saying that they simply just not completely delete that as an option. They do keep even older legacy and a lot less useful options there, so I am not really concerned.

Quoting: GuestI always wondered why they still had 32bit as the default, good to see that this has been changed now to 64bit and especially Vulkan... I won't miss the OpenGL support at all! :-) The update works great, no issues so far!
I am still downloading the beta on my desktop. The old version should be kept as an option because it does work on my laptop with intel HD 4400 and Vulkan does not work there (simple benchmarks do work bun not anything like Talos). What I think really nobody needs is the 32bit nonsense.

I am quite sure if we check the projects that have been forked, number one reason is "someone does not answer his emails"

Valve's card game Artifact seems to be dying off and fairly quickly too

Quoting: lucinosMaybe they should think my idea, make it free to play for linux! If linux has such a small share then it does not make it any different financially for a game that support it anyway :-P
But if you buy a game on Steam, it's available on all the platforms. So people will get it for free on Linux and play it on Windows...
That can not be a big problem. There are many ways to do it, the most obvious is to have something like many games do have a free demo, that will just be the game for free but only available for linux.
