Regards Star Citizen, It will have zero effect on it. SC is basically their own in-house engine now.

Quoting: ZeloxThings like this also give me faith,Quoting: niarbehtNot only that, but if you examine their current Windows launcher compared to their original Windows launcher, you'll notice a shift from the original being Windows-only middleware to the current launcher, hint hint, seeming to be entirely based on libraries available on Linux.OMG !! :D Im gonna watch bug smasher.
Even more fun? In a recent episode of Bug Smashers, you could see a list of the available launchers in the programmer's ?Visual Studio? IDE, including such gems as "WindowsLauncher", "HeadlessLauncher", and... wait for it...
"LinuxLauncher".
So, they're at least poking it with a stick. And, seemingly, planning for it. Including making noise every now and again about revamping some stuff deep in the engine to better support DX12/Vulkan.
Also, at some point they switched sound middleware to something cross-platform with Linux support.
Do you... see a trend?
EDIT: I mean, sure, there are no guarantees in life, but there's good evidence that they're maneuvering themselves to a position to support Linux.
No I did not scream like a school girl xD.
Its probably no guarantee, but judging from the hype of Star citizen, its the first real vulkan supported game with a linux support hopefully.
There might be a bigger chanse players are going to try Linux, or more gamers are going to linux cause its free and they jsut want to play there Star citizen.

Good news as I've just jumped on to mageia 6 cauldron to try the AMDGPU driver + radeon_si. (kernel dev enabled it on request)
Have to say it's working real well, had a quick blast on boarderlands 2 before I went to work this morning, 120+ fps maxed out @ 1440p :dizzy:
That's with mesa 12.1
290x
It has impressed me, No sound via hdmi yet for those interested.
