Well, you started off pretty strong there. Some good points. Perhaps you should have stopped before you got into murky waters of Unity-hate and blatant opinion on the ease of use of Linux or the toxicity of the user base.

But I'll bite anyway. Care to expand on what you think users won't like about the Unity Launcher? Be specific. As I say, I've been an Ubuntu user a long time and I agree that the 11.04 and 11.10 iterations were raw - I tended to revert my use of those versions back to... oh, I can't remember the name of it now... Docker? Something like that. But by 12.04, Unity Launcher was solid and since 15.04 is about to launch, that means that I've been using this Launcher for nearly 3 years and had no idea it was somehow magically "bad".

What's wrong with it?
Canonical took the worst from Windows' taskbar and OSX's dock and stuffed it into the Unity Launcher. You can't change it's position and you can't get rid of it - so much for Linux's flexibility. Also there is no Show Desktop button by default. It has no preview thumbnails and no click to minimize unless you force them (sort of) with Compiz. We're talking about basic Windows functionality, let alone comparing it to something as flexible as KDE for example. If they allowed me to get rid of the launcher for real, I'd just slap a Cairo dock or something and be a happy camper, but as it is - it's absolutely horrible.

Take your pick. And let's not forget an increasingly hostile Linux community - a problem that has become quite serious in recent years. Team A-hole is getting bigger and louder. YouTube is full of videos of both new users and Linux veterans that are complaining about it.

Good - I'll probably be able to collect the final points for AMD awards and get it for free while playing Pillars of Eternity :). Just 360 more - should be able to do it before the Linux release.

Easy was just too boring, because you can get to the drake at level3, and do the first two levels in lighthouse at 4-5.

What's really strange about the game: I can skill whatever I want, it does not matter, it makes it a bit easier certainly, what really decides it the level (I tried that trying to clear lighthouse with a Fighter l5 full def, and l7 full int - rest of the party wrong-skilled as well, which isn't of any use there at all).
Well I'd argue that there is no wrong skilled character in this game. That is what makes PoE's system superior to D&D and especially the AD&D the old Infinity games were made after. Why shouldn't Might (Attack) matter for a Wizard and Intelligence matter for a fighter. Fighters always had to be dribbling morons. Why? In Bauldur's Gate half your character didn't matter and in Planescape: Torment only Intelligence, Wizdom and Charisma really did and considering you gained a skill point with each level, by the game the Nameless One is for all intents and purposes a living god (which admittedly was more or less the intentional).

From what I understand even easy is not quite easy. I chose Normal because I read the game is fairly challenging as it is and it's true. Normal is probably what would constitute as hard is most modern games but still not unfair like Dark Souls for example. The game is hard in the sense you have to figure out the right way to approach a battle and not how many times you replay an encounter till you manage to make it through. In the 10 hours I've played so far, the game managed to throw a new challenge at me every time I was starting to feel a bit too comfortable with the enemies, without me feeling overwhelmed.

PS A free tip - when you first meet Shadows - leave at least a mediocre fighter near your wizard or you're in for an unpleasant surprise :)

I'll hold on before trying it in Linux - the Windows version seems a bit buggy at the moment and considering that's usually the priority, I'll give them some time to smooth the edges. Other than that after less than an hour of playing I already love it. That battle system is so much superior to Wastelands 2 which is more of a half-assed Jagged Alliance than an RPG. I wonder how younger players would take on Pillars though. Will they consider it too retro or embrace the old school look?

I fought myself not to buy this all day but A) I have a gajillion games in my backlog, and B) Pillars of Eternity comes out tomorrow and I pre-ordered it yesterday. I'm still getting this for sure. I watched a couple of playthroughs and I love it. It's like Legend of Grimrock but without the puzzles and with lasers. Yay.

Well, that's a bummer. The game is truly amazing. I'm guessing they'll wait and see how the whole Steam OS thing rolls out (especially with the announcement Windows 10 will be for all intents and purposes free even for pirates). As somebody who owns the game for Windows I've to say that the dev team are really nice and really open to the community. However they are indeed a small team and there is an long enough list of outstanding problems with the Windows and OSX versions and some of these things, especially the performance, have been an issue for some time. I'm guessing they had to make the tough call and ax the Linux version (for the time being at least). I know it sucks but I sincerely believe that this is just one of the tough business decisions companies have to make sometimes and not just passing Linux as a platform in general.
