Dying Light Linux Performance Patch & New DLC Released

The issue for me, and others commenting here, is the constant dropping into 30-40 range, which makes the framerate very unstable.

Hoping to see more performance improvements. This experience has made me not want to buy Techland games in the future.

Quoting: Segata SanshiroWell, it now works with good framerates at high settings, but have this annoying issue where shadows appear and disappear very quickly right in front of me even when they're only a metre or two away. So going to have to wait for another patch... So close this time, it's such a minor issue but can see that getting soooo annoying even after a few minutes of playing that I'm not even going to bother.

Edit: Also the framerate might be high, but it's ridiculously unstable, going anywhere from 30-70fps even in the same limited area. Turning Vsync on stabilises it a lot, but then get maybe 40fps in parts where I was getting 50-60 without it on, still far from ideal.
I'm getting the same framerate instability.

I have an Nvidia 680, which can play other games just fine (Metro Redux, Borderlands series, etc). The main issue is the performance is better, but it still drops down into 30-40 frequently, which others have mentioned.

It would be great if you could contact your contact at Techland and see if they could comment on improving the Linux performance soon, since it still has issues with people commenting here.

I didn't really see much improvement. It finally got to 60 fps but it still drops down to 40 and 30 pretty regularly. Not very stable framerate, and this is on the balance settings with anti-alasing, motion blur, etc turned off.

Looks like there's two data directories on my system, a data and a Data. Which one do you have?\

[edit] Looks like I had to move the data directory to Data directory. It appears that there was an issue in the file download regarding case sensitivity.

The Infinite port was great for me on nvidia, and Witcher 2 is much better now, so it seems unfair to dismiss them out of hand. While I agree, I'd prefer a native port for new games, eON is a good way to get older games on Linux.

Also, native games aren't always that great like others have said, like Dying Light, which still has lots of performance issues, due to the game, not the OS. And some Unity games still have pretty bad performance, another reason I'm looking forward to seeing more devs use UE4 (so far performance is pretty good on Linux)
