Alien: Isolation Looks Like It's Coming To Linux, Oh God, Don't Make Me Play It
9 Jul 2015 at 4:10 pm UTC

Quoting: FutureSutureCan anybody decipher who is doing the port?
Nobody comfirmed its a port, so theres at least a chance it could be native. But I would guess its an eON by VP.

Dota 2 Reborn Now Officially Supports Linux, Early Look
24 Jun 2015 at 11:24 am UTC

I have tried 3 HUD skins so far and all had yellow lines in the mid-bottom. In another game there was a white fragment, so I expect it to be random. Doesn't really disturb me and it seems that they just miss-aligned the middle HUD element.

Dota 2 Reborn Now Officially Supports Linux, Early Look

Could have waited just some days with initial release. Nobody would have known, and with a triple OS release they would have been a role model.

CRYENGINE 3.8.1 Adds Official OpenGL & Linux Support
20 Jun 2015 at 1:45 pm UTC

Really good news, but at this point no practical use for the Linux gamers. Unless one dev with publishing rights will read this and recompile his stuff.

Dota 2 Reborn Announced, Dota 2 To Get Major Engine & UI Updates
13 Jun 2015 at 10:33 am UTC

Quoting: liamdaweThey don’t specifically say Source 2, but it’s obvious it will be.
Really great news. An update without Source 2 makes absolutely no sense, so Source 2 Dota 2 (aka Dota 2.1 ;-) ) confirmed.

GOL Cast: Running And Gunning In A Sandstorm In Spec Ops: The Line

Quoting: tuubiBesides, I very much doubt VP programmers are incompetent. Unless you think wine developers are incompetent as long as wine isn't perfect. The performance "penalty" is just the price of wrapping instead of actually porting, and this decision wasn't made by VP.
I totally agree and for homework I would like to see M@GOid writing that port (or any other AAA-game that hasnt been ported yet). He wont need the source code as it should be a wrapper and he already owns the game, so he has no further expenses and is ready to start.

BTW: SO:TL runs at 30-40 fps at maxed settings on my 650M with Poolsize increased and prop. driver. As in most non-native the CPU seems to be limiting factor.

GOG DRM Free Summer Sale Is Now On
7 Jun 2015 at 10:54 am UTC

Quoting: liamdaweLooks like GOG are getting in quick before the Steam summer sales start, and they have discounted plenty of great games.
I don't think they can compete with Steam Summer Sale, so thats exact the way to deal with it.

The Steam Hardware Survey For May Is Here, It’s Not All Doom & Gloom
3 Jun 2015 at 10:27 am UTC

Quoting: liamdaweWe have no idea how they are sampling their data, and to state this again, it’s a survey.
They should introduce a survey day eg. the 15th of every month to make the survey representative. It also wouldn't be a problem at all to just send 1 additional byte to identify the OS every time users log into Steam. Maybe this is against Valve's user data policy.

Quoting: FutureSutureSteam usage must be growing so fast that the Linux adoption rate just cannot keep up.
Haven' t heard of a person that used linux and said "I want to use Win to play game XY". For most non-Linux games there should be good Linux alternative titles. Except racing games but there will be GRID soon.

Quoting: TealFor me, the survey only seems to happen when I am installing steam, and I usually just skip it, and I am pretty sure so will a plenty of other Linux users.
Maybe Windows users tend to reinstall their OS more frequently than Linux users.

Valve Finally Have A Proper Refund Policy For Steam
2 Jun 2015 at 6:09 pm UTC Likes: 1

Quoting: liamdaweI imagine this is due to pressure from different nations, some of which have been hitting hard on Valve (and rightly so).
or maybe GabeN is just is pre-Summer-sale mood. Good step anyway!

UE3 Powered Physics Puzzler 'Unmechanical' In Open Beta For Linux
29 May 2015 at 12:14 pm UTC

Quoting: fleskTo help test Unmechanical, you must buy a copy from Steam ...
I dont want to be a negative paid beta tester, but there is a free Win demo out so it would have been cool to test that.

Quoting: flesk...enter the code "externaltestlinux" to unlock the beta, and select the "internal_test_linux" branch.
Very interesting naming!
