NVIDIA 396.18 beta driver is out with a new Vulkan SPIR-V compiler to reduce shader compilation time

Excuse my confusion, is this new shader compiler for Vulkan only or also for OpenGL?

RUINER is now in Beta for Linux, it's also an early unlock in the new Humble Monthly

Poor decision to base GOG release on customer demand. As a GOG user I'm fine in not be able to play the game while in beta state, I'm patient enough. Not all Linux users speak up and it doesn't mean they're not interested, considering GOG being a smaller user base than Steam how much 'big' are they talking about here.

Maybe they should take a look at this article to get an idea how bad their decision is.

DXVK, the Vulkan compatibility layer for Direct3D 11 and Wine has a fresh release reducing CPU overhead

DXVK sooner or later will make me break my Linux-Only games rule. I gave Witcher 3 a test today using Wine 3.5 (non staging) + dxvk 0.41, it was pleasing to see almost 60fps on high settings.

Brutal action shooter 'RUINER' will arrive on Linux this Friday

Quoting: GuestAccording to their Steam page [External Link], this is still the beta, so not the final version. Interestingly they tested on Ubuntu, Mint, Fedora and Debian (also SteamOS)! Which is much more than other devs do.
Thanks for the link, I'm fine with waiting for them to polish it before releasing on GOG. It follows suite from Everspace which is also to be officially released soon :)

Great news and these devs just kept their word, only 2 questions: Is it coming to GOG? - and how does it run on Mesa?

Doom (2016) could have been on Linux, id Software made a Linux version sound easy to do
25 Mar 2018 at 1:46 am UTC

id Software stopped releasing Linux games since Rage (where Bethesda served as the publisher), at that time Carmack was preparing the shift to Oculus, then Zenimax happened and it pretty much fell apart. It's a real shame, id Software wasn't big on DRM and their source code releases have spawned new projects and brought improvements to their games.

The best thing that's still left over at id Software is the great engines they make, they're one of the very few big name companies that didn't go with DirectX 11/12. Such a company really deserves better, they have the means to put out a Linux version of amazing games with little efforts and yet their hands are tied by a publisher that doesn't see the potential of Linux, where in terms of gaming it's an even better gaming platform than macOS.

Martian city-builder ‘Surviving Mars’ released with day-1 Linux support

Loving the game so far, it will take some time learning all this stuff but I'm really enjoying it. On the technical it runs great on Ultra with about 175 fps if I don't turn V-Sync on, it seems to be based on the Victor Vran engine and 64bit. Finally one pre-order I don't regret :-)

Quoting: WorMzyThe text flickers and changes. It makes reading numbers particularly difficult, as they flicker between different values (e.g. 0 and 1, 4 and 7).
Thanks, I can deal with that for the time being.

Been a while since I pre-ordered a game, pretty excited for this one that I'd play it even at 320x200
