Why Are We Still Dual Booting?
12 Mar 2015 at 5:53 pm UTC

Great article, I used to put Games first and Linux second and it was exactly that attitude that kept me away from learning the OS properly. 6 Months ago I started taking it seriously, dual booted just because I couldn't let off some games but then it got interesting. Learning the OS and all the things I could do with it became more fun than playing the games themselves, that being said I also discovered many Linux games that are just as fun. I booted less and less in Windows in the span of 2 weeks, up to a point where I removed it entirely (I literally dual booted only for 2 weeks).

I think some people out there want to use Linux full time but letting go off their favorite games is a bit hard, especially when those games carry the EA, Ubisoft and Activision labels. Making matters worse, these games are starting to use DX10/11 only which lessens the chance of someone trying to play them with Wine.

Dual booting isn't entirely at the gamers' fault however, 1) Assuming Linux users have a Windows/Mac OS is wrong and 2) If they don't release Linux versions that 2% will not go up any faster.

GOG Open Up For More Indie Games
21 Feb 2015 at 12:24 am UTC

Indies:

Binding of Isaac: Rebirth
Transistor
Ziggurat

Non Indies:

Civilization 5
Civilization: Beyond Earth

The list goes on. I mainly named the 2 Civ games because I like turn based games but there aren't many on GOG with a native Linux build.

Outlast, That Really Scary Game Looks Like It's Still Heading To Linux
28 Jan 2015 at 8:34 pm UTC

Played this game with my friend on Skype, hella scary especially when you're running out of light and the story is pretty good too.

@Liam: The game is also available on GOG, you might want to add a link to that for those who prefer a DRM-Free version: http://www.gog.com/game/outlast [External Link] :-)

The Witcher 2 Has A New Beta For Linux, The Improvements Are Staggering
28 Jan 2015 at 1:51 pm UTC

This is great news, although I can play the game very well on High settings I am interested in the optimizations Virtual Programming is working on.

Never agreed on wrappers but this might very well change my opinion. Most games require less resources than Witcher 2 so they'll run much smoother.

Two Worlds II Is Not Coming To Linux, Well Maybe, We Aren't Sure Anymore

Quoting: throghWould be nice if the release for Two Worlds 2 - whenever planned - would be also for GOG and not only for some DRM-platforms out there! ^_^
I'm sure it would come out also on GOG, The pattern goes like this usually: Game goes in beta on Steam > Final version to everyone else. I don't mind this procedure as long as I get the final version.

Thanks for the effort Liam, I admit I've been sitting here for the past 2 hours refreshing the page hoping for any news regarding this game.

I'm not very picky on graphic details but if Raven's Cry has good gameplay I'll buy it just for the native Linux port alone.

The Linux Port Of Age Of Wonders III Is Progressing, A Bit Too Explosive Right Now
19 Jan 2015 at 8:28 pm UTC

I'm glad they're making progress on this port, I'm not a big fan of turn based strategy games but always had a certain attraction towards the Age of Wonders games and already own the entire series.

I appreciate their effort, this is going to be one of my most played games this year.

Great choice Liam, I'm on a 760 atm but aiming for a 970 for the future. Do you mind telling me which driver version are you using? Version 346.35 was released a couple of days ago.

BFG have proven to be a good developer and a trusty one too, I'll gladly wait a few more weeks if that's what it takes to get the best bug free version possible.
