Jonathan Blow Creator Of 'Braid' On If 'The Witness' Will Come To Linux
22 Apr 2015 at 11:28 pm UTC

Until Linux gets the most wanted games, user growth will be slow. Many gamers especially the younger generation want to play games such as Battlefield/CoD, Assassin's Creed, Dragon Age, GTA 5 and all those high graphics titles.

I think if the big companies start supporting Linux, the user base would grow bigger. Jonathan's view seems honest enough , as he didn't simply shove Linux off the way. I hope Vulkan will be good, it might just be the push Linux needs.

That VP suggests a possible Virtual Programming eON port, this is getting interesting. I wonder how performance will fare with such a game in multiplayer.

SuperTuxKart Open Source Racer 0.9 Released With New Game Engine

Yesterday I gave this new version a few rounds, the new engine is impressive. Performance was very good on my GTX 960, 60+ fps with full details. It's a very good contender to Mario Kart as it is now.

Ubisoft and Linux can't be in the same line, it's almost impossible!

My guess is another BioShock port.

Humble Indie Bundle 14 Is Out, Outlast & Shadow Warrior New To Linux

I think Outlast could use some optimization, it's fairly playable and stable but the performance is rather low, with High / Ultra settings it's definitely not running at a solid 60+ fps for me. I got better performance using Wine with CSMT. Thumbs up for a native build anyway.

Shadow Warrior is a totally different story, the game runs great on the highest details possible and the VSync works too since my GPU stopped whining in the main menu with it on.

PS: Flying Wild Hog, time for a Hard Reset Linux port? :D

Star Citizen For Linux Is Being Held Up By Crytek

The fact they're looking into Vulkan is great news, I'm not much of a space sim fan but Star Citizen seems to offer so much content that It's almost impossible to say no :P

I agree with what has been said above, times are surely changing for Microsoft, Direct X and games. Many devs are updating their engines for better Cross-platform support which should enable simultaneous releases across all 3 PC OS's. Linux may still be in the minority amongst gamers but it is swiftly becoming a viable alternative, especially for those who are on a tight budget or simply tired of Microsoft's padlocks all over Windows.

@ liam: Have you tried setting all the graphics to lowest and turning off VSync on Outlast? You probably already tried this, just checkin :-)

I won't be able to pick up the Bundle until tomorrow, so thanks for the quick review :-)

Quoting: KeizgonReally glad to see this one coming.

Wish Wolfenstein: The New Order would see the same fate. :/
Doubt it will since id software passed to DirectX since Rage. A shame as they were big players in the OpenGL gaming field.

Considering the recent eON wrapper for BioShock Infinite, I'm hoping this will be a real native port and if so I may even pay full price for it.
