Syndrome, a survival horror game from Camel 101 has a pretty good new trailer

The aesthetic, even whole pieces of the design definitely look like they've been lifted from Alien Isolation, the plot description is almost identical although as others have commented the actual gameplay is closer to System Shock.
Altogether it just doesn't seem at all original, and if you are going to copy other games, why chose two of the most highly respected ones? It's a losing strategy, anything which invites comparison with those games will always come off worse.

Liam - I know you've updated the headline but I still came into the article and read it through without realising that the date was wrong. Maybe it could be made clearer at the top of the article? 'was a Feral glitch' just had me wondering what you were talking about - Tomb Raider is a Feral glitch? The news leaking early was a glitch? The fact they announced it via their news page and not in a marketing email was a glitch? I really couldn't figure out which and as it turns out, none of the above was the answer :)

Punishing? Yes, but suicidal cops throwing themselves endlessly into carnage completely spoils the immersion for me. I'd be much more impressed by a system where a single gunshot can kill (instead of being a bullet sponge) but where the cops at least seemed to behave realistically. It would be just as punishing, but not completely unrealistic. I feel PayDay is paying homage to that shootout scene in Heat, but even there the cops kept heads down. I mean, in real life they wouldn't keep coming even if 50-60 of their brethren lay dead or dying on the ground.
I get that it's a game and lots of people love the fact that it's so insane, my comments are merely to help people make educated purchasing decisions. If you like the game I've described then go and buy it, if instead you prefer something more thoughtful and authentic, then you'll probably want to skip it.

Let me just repeat what Liam said - "The AI is a little dumb and it will end up being a little bit frustrating for you, so online is a must really."
The singleplayer is unplayable and so if you're like me and have no time to dedicate to online play, then don't bother purchasing.
Also worth mentioning that once the police get involved, it becomes a wave shooter worthy of the Left 4 Dead crown. An endless stream of police/fbi etc will throw themselves at you, I was racking up dozens of kills in missions. Each wave is harder than the last as the cops armour up. There's no standoff and I never once saw the police decide to setup a perimeter and send in a negotiator, they always charge in guns blazing, apparently ignoring the civilians caught in the crossfire. This, and more is why I personally was disappointed by the game.

Managed to get audio working by forcing SDL to use Pulse - SDL_AUDIODRIVER=pulse %command%
Played about an hour, uninstalled ... waste of £4.59 - didn't realise the game was a wave shooter and it's nearly impossible to complete missions cleanly in single player. The AI is useless, they don't do anything - they won't break safes, loot, restart drills, cable tie hostages etc. So missions requiring you to carry three bags of loot requires making three long trips to the getaway vehicle, usually straight through a mass of police.

I have pulseaudio installed, not by choice but out of necessity (bluetooth audio is a pain without it). However I get no audio in the video, menus or game itself.

See ... I said that the new item on the Radar was Tomb Raider, but everyone was so certain that it was Five Nights at Freddy's.

Life Is Strange looks like it's being ported to Linux by Feral Interactive

Quoting: chelobakaWell that's boring!! My explanation was far more creative.Quoting: GBeeThis will be the item on the Radar with the image of an eyeball and the equation (Euler's Identity) - An equation that is well know because it's considered to be mathematically beautiful. However, this is the bit where it becomes relevant - "e^(i π) = -1" is an enigma, it's mathematically possible but strange and inexplicable for most mathematicians. In other words - Life is Strange. It's literally read as "Formula 1".
Quoting: chelobakaAlso this hint from Feral appeared much earlier than SteamDB entry for Life is Strange.Yes, but Feral generally know what games they are porting _before_ they start uploading the completed version to Steam :)
