A dish this hint out to all Linux users: Do not buy any newer games on gog.com leave them for really old titles that have no chance of a port.

Quoting: XodetaetlNo it's just I have 0% trust in those counters. As you look at another counter and it gives you a totally different result.Quoting: liamdaweDon't get me wrong I know Valve has had an effect on games but I was talking more user base, I still doubt Linux's share has increased much at all from Valve's efforts, I believe it can change and will but not seeing it yet.It seems my comment here has been skipped over by everyone. :'( Or is it that it wasn't clear enough? These stats I was poiting out are as substantial as can be, showing the direct impact of Steam's arrival on Linux and it's big.

Also Gameolith FYI was a Linux only store to begin with but went over to Windows and Mac (most likely due to lack of sales).
Personally I of course hope we keep growing after all GOL's success depends on people using Linux heh. I am hoping our new design will help keep us going since near enough everything will be better on it! Makes us much more up to date that's for sure!

Quoting: vipar"People are paying more attention to Linux"I have extreme doubts that Gabe's words have really swayed anyone. Fact is more people are looking at Linux, the amount of games coming like this speaks for itself really.
Nah...Linux is just a better alternative to Windows 8 according to Gabe Newell :)

Bumadar has it right on, I think it's nice as we have a lot of faced paced shooters but the fact that SS has a single player with a story and co-op is just fantastic. Give me a decent single player over multiplayer anyday.

It's seriously great to see this game starting to support Linux since I am rather vocal about my boredom of quake style shooters.
The port is quite rough though right now I hope they keep hammering out bugs :)

What bugs me personally about all of these games is you have to specifically know the IP address or sift through lots of servers for the correct name to join a friend.
They all (Alien Arena, Red Eclipse, Warsow etc) need even a really simple friends list (like steam only far simpler) where you can just invite/join a friend, all it needs to do is track the IP of the server they are on it's that simple. They already have all the joining code they can piggyback off of for when you manually join a server. They could make it far easier with small things like that.
But no they all seems to focus on "must make players run and jump higher/faster, must make this shinier, add more bloom!"
Alien Arena is one of the finest quake style shooters though that's for sure. I just got a bit tired of them a few years ago.

Personally I won't cover the release, his still constant bitching about Linux and being a twat makes me not want to give him any more exposure, I won't stop anyone else though. I ranted on reddit about it here for anyone interested: http://www.reddit.com/r/linux_gaming/comments/1fw4p8/garrys_mod_linux_sales/ [External Link]
Seems everyone agrees with me, he's an idiot. The store doesn't even state it has Linux support neither does his website, masses of people already own it from bundles and sales etc. Yet he still takes to twitter to basically "show off" low Linux sales to spread crap again.
I do not like him.
