Personally I think Wine is fantastic and is part of the reason Linux has been as popular as it has been.
I am unsure where I stand on it, I think my personal view is that I would like for Wine installs to be counted as exactly what it is - Wine.
Since Wine can be run on Mac as well it would be interesting to get the numbers on it.
Mr/Miss? Anonymous I've read all of this and I see nothing wrong with what my editors have said, everyone has their own point of view that is the point of commenting if they don't agree with you it's not them being confrontational it's them trying to give their point of view as well.
Honestly to me it just sounds like everyone is having a good old chat, just remember to keep it cool guys.

Honestly, if RPS hadn't mentioned this place, I'd have never heard of it. Think there might be a reason I hadn't heard of it...The main reason would be that we are still a small website nothing to do with our commenters as you imply - you are the only one who seems to be having a big problem with all of this.

So if you weren’t going to back it due to a stretch goal, I don't see why not since now it will be coming.

Personally I love the look of the project and it can be a little different if you are writing everything yourself, not different enough to warrant basically $10k each for Mac and Linux (180-200k stretch goal) considering they already said they are shying away from Windows only tech.
Still it's better than no support at all and still lower than a fair few others stretch goals, not to mention they have almost hit it anyway.

Quoting: rccarrollMy comment was directed at future Valve/Steam customers. In my case, they had two of their games that indicated they worked in Linux. I paid for them. They did not work or even load, or download. I complained immediately, but could not get my money back. They did change the web page to indicate that Dirt2 and the Testament of Sherlock Holmes don't work in Linux, but that is after the fact. If they c hanged the web page, it is an indication that they made a mistake. They did make a mistake, the games are not compatible with Linux. But they kept my money. I offered to give them screenshots, but they don't care.I can't say I've ever seen a title on the official store/client show a platform it didn't support. Can you show us those screenshots of yours?
Earth 2140 the futuristic RTS game is coming to Linux

When it was released doesn't mean anything, it's new to us and a highly rated game 4/5 stars on gog with 391 ratings, that's pretty good.
They may not have any contracts for newer titles, also porting a game that is already on Mac would probably be easier to port to Linux than starting on a new port. It's also probably more financially viable to port older titles first to expand their catalogue.

Quoting: HamishPeople should keep in mind that Runesoft are doing this to port more of their old catalogue to Linux, rather than just grabbing new tittles. Personally, I applaud them for it.Not just that, they update their older titles to fix bugs like their other Linux ports on Desura.

Personally I feel Runesoft are worth supporting.

Quoting: ublangotaSo this game was released before Starcraft 1. Guess that does not mean it cannot be good but that combined with their affiliation with TopWare who have done some pretty questionable anti-piracy work [External Link] makes me not very interested. That was for 2160 not for 2140 and Runesoft are a completely different company as well who don't use DRM or any anti-piracy tactics like that.
Personally I feel Runesoft are worth supporting.
