Actually the difference here is that gog.com's downloaders once downloaded will still work (you could backup your collection).
If Steam went down you don't have that choice since your game downloads are tied directly to their client?

You do not support Linux by using Tux Games, I have seen far too many posts from people not getting their games or waiting months for them. The best way to support this one is to support the Kickstarter.

GOG won't put any Linux binaries up if you want the Linux version your best bet is to contact the developers or Devolver and ask nicely for a Steam key!
Steam has Greenlit more Linux games!
