Quoting: LoftyDo you get worse graphics running DX9 though ? I mean its great that it works on the Deck and kind of meh that you have to enter commands on Linux desktop (hope this is not a trend ). But having to go back in time to DX9 seems a bit extreme. Hopefully this will get fixed up shortly.
This will happen now and then with Proton, since it's a compatibility layer and not 100% accurate. There will always being weird edge cases for new releases that need a workaround, until Proton is updated or developers put in a direct fix.
Sure, but im concerned with the idea that there becomes a focus from game devs (and perhaps valve devs) on getting a title to launch on the steam deck and the Linux desktop gets (ironically) pushed to the back of the cue with the need for patches or command lines like above. Im sure it's a rare case, but i guess we will have to wait and see if the desktop becomes an afterthought now there is so much focus on the deck.
A valid concern, but as Proton continues to mature I'm sure it will be fine.

Proton Experimental fixes video playback in Ember Knights, Ghostwire: Tokyo and more

Quoting: ZlopezStrange, I played Warhammer: End Times - Vermintide in past with Proton and everything worked without issue, only thing that didn't worked was the launcher. So I'm surprised that it's marked as newly playable, when it was playable in past.
Well, reports from players are different to Valve officially noting something as such.

Block Quake is basically Quake made into LEGO

Quoting: LinasAs much as I enjoy LEGO as a product, LEGO as a company is quite litigious, and not always welcoming to fan projects like this. Anyway, this looks awesome.
Not much they can do, the project isn't in any way using the LEGO name and LEGO itself has plenty of real-life cheapo versions too that seem to do fine.

Dune: Spice Wars is out in Early Access, works on Linux and Steam Deck
26 Apr 2022 at 4:55 pm UTC

Quoting: ElamanOpiskelijaI wonder if the folks at Shiro got way too excited with Northgard, and are now trying to bite more than they can chew...
Dune is a pretty important franchise, there are predecessors (games) from good old Westwood studios, and there's also Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak.
I am worried about how are they going to cover basic issues like performance. If we see already 40 FPS in a situation like that, what will happen in a decent battle with big armies.
Also I don't see a minimap in there, so I assume we are dealing with an attempt to cover all functionality with zoom in/out. Again, maybe too ambitious?
That 40FPS was on the Steam Deck, something they don't actually directly support on Day 1 of Early Access. I can get it to around 60FPS by turning settings down.

Twitter agrees to Elon Musk buyout, a reminder we're on Mastodon

Quoting: LanzMusk's buyout of Twitter might just be enough to convince me to use it. It was nothing but an echo chamber for the left prior to the buyout, and frankly, that's boring to read and really nauseating. Neutrality is very much welcomed.
Hahaha sorry but that's hilarious. Both sides always think it's against them. I'm on the "Left" and see absolutely masses of right wing bull. It's very easy to find too.

GE-Proton 7.15 is out, enables Fall Guys on Linux and Steam Deck easily

Quoting: pbRe Fall Guys: Is it just the fix from ProtonDB comments or something more? Because that fix didn't work for me on two accounts/computers. One is stuck on "loading" and the other has some weird pop-up about missing files and then shuts off.
You can see exactly what it does here [External Link].

Heroic Games Launcher for Epic and GOG on Linux and Steam Deck new Beta available

Quoting: GuestThanks for the news.
Out of curiosity, what do you intend by "Linux" that requires you to specify "and steam deck"?
I assume this is about the title so: I want to appeal to new users of the Steam Deck, as much as normal Linux users. Steam Deck is not yet synonymous with Linux for the masses, and mentioning them both makes it clear to people. It's also good for Search Engines to pick it up.

Quoting: fearnflavioOne note about the 'user credentials are no longer stored in plain text':
This was related only to GOG and it's NOT the username and password, but only the token generated after login and that was used to download the games :)

Just making it clear :D
Ah, good to know, probably good if that was noted in the release notes ;) to prevent anyone being confused
