Quoting: Geppeto35Fortunately, Liam wrote "A fun bit of marketing but..." ... But this 'But' immediately closed the critical mind, the necessary writing distance between the fanboy fuelled by marketing and the journalist :(
I've literally no idea what you're trying to say at this point. It's a very quick news tip, to show the video and not really anything more than that. Nothing about what I've written here is in any way "fanboy" and I'm as far as you can get from a Valve fanboy and have been very critical of them in the past.

Quoting: Geppeto35And finally, to Liam: you are procrastinating with this middling article :D. We ask for more review of this machine please ;) Hardware change of ssd for example, how it behaves in office tasks, video watching, etc. All stupid question like : can I play or watch video in the bed while my half is sleeping (fan sound, click of the buttons, etc.)? <3

PipeWire is the future for Linux audio and I am sold on it

Quoting: AussieEeveeHonestly, I am not a fan of when people say something is "the future". Especially in the Linux space, where choice is key.

Personally, I will keep using Xorg and Pulseaudio.
No one is taking choice away, I really don't get why you would even remotely think that. Use whatever you want.

Steam Deck — but can it run Crysis Remastered? Yes

Quoting: Mountain ManCome on, man, even the Nintendo Switch can run Crysis these days. It would be pretty sad if the Deck couldn't.
Lighten up, man, it's a fun poke at the old meme.

Gabe hand-delivers signed Steam Decks, sounds like a Steam Deck 2 is planned

Quoting: pseudexI'm pretty sure if there is a deck V2 it will be backward compatible with the first one.
Of course it will be, as the majority of games either use Proton which would work the same or native Linux builds - which should also work the same.

Quoting: Liam DaweSame for Trackpad aiming in anything first-person — it’s just not for me and that’s okay
How would you say it compares to Steam Controller in that area?
Feels about the same really. Nice for certain games but I don't really like using pads for FPS.

Quoting: mr-victory@Liam I experienced some problems with EGS on Proton not right after installation but a few days later. The EGS window kept flashing (open-close-open) and I couldn’t use it. Can you still use it?
Just checked again, continues working fine here in Deck UI mode. This is specific to Deck though, I've not been testing this on desktop so they may act differently since Deck UI uses Gamescope.

Quoting: elmapulyou need an comparision point... eg: test it on windows too.

Quoting: RossBCHaven't got a deck to try it, have been using HeroicBashLauncher for normal linux for a while for game links for steam, it's linked to in heroics wiki as well.

https://github.com/redromnon/HeroicBashLauncher [External Link]

Creates functional bash scripts for steam/lutris would be a solid recommend, if it works without having to install anything extra on the deck for it to work.
It does not work on the AppImage for the Deck, it has some weirdly coded paths. The dev of Heroic is aware of all the issues, I told them during testing.
